Cat full of Tricks

This game is another under the radar gem, this is also another one of the solid licensed games in my book. The game is based on the classic cartoon character Felix who was popular animated character for his time. This game came out to celebrate the anniversary of this character in the 90's and it's a solid tribute to the guy.

The graphical presentation is I think very good, this game has some of the finest graphical presentation that perfectly represents the character and really gives you the feeling your in the world of Felix the Cat. Even like the character animation from your basic generic enemies but it's really the bosses whom are based on Felix's adversaries in the cartoon shorts as well as Felix himself whom are all well animated, you really feel like your playing Felix and fighting against his enemies from the cartoon. Each of the levels are well designed and there is some variety to them which keep things from being repetitive and dull.

Music is decent, nothing to really download to your phone. The control is responsive, and the gameplay is very good, I like that your armed with a non-cliché weapon which is a magic bag that can fire out a retractable boxing glove. The game is pretty much like certain platform action games your familiar with like "Alex Kidd" and others you can think of nothing new, but everything done right.

One of the things that makes the game interesting that makes it somewhat unique is how Felix can level up. If you collect a certain magical power up, you acquire powers and assault vehicles each with strengths and weaknesses. From the lower part of the scale you gain powers like one where your dressed in Valdivian wear with the cane and barbershop hat, you sing out some toon and summon up stars that surround you and take out any enemies that come at any direction of you.

From the higher end of the scale you gain assault vehicles, one of them is a tank which you can jump with and fire out a bouncing cannon ball. But there is a catch, if you get hit while you have any of the magical powers you get downgraded back to your previous powers and assault vehicle. And of course, if you get hit more times and are downgraded to zero then you done for, so try not to get hit.

The only bad things about the game are that it's easy and kind of short, at least for me. Though same can be said about a lot of action platformers out there, ride is short but a sweet ride. This is a good game for the beginners of the platform action genre, so for any gamers starting up the genre this is a good place to start.

Overall, it's a solid game, if you're a fan of the character Felix or are looking for vintage licensed games, then like Felix's magic bag it's one worth opening and taking a look at. "Felix the Cat" is full of tricks of fun.
