So, the Dead Rising series. Yeah, judging from the diminishing returns from each entry after the 2006 original, and the response from the last entry in Dead Rising 4, it’s safe to say that Capcom will have this series on hold for a bit. Making it sting even more is footage that has appeared online from the cancelled fifth entry, Dead Rising 5: Dia de los Muertos.
Per PlayStation Lifestyle, early prototype game footage of the cancelled title has been revealed through the portfolio of level designer Nick Sinkewicz. From the looks of things, Dead Rising 5 would take place in Mexico, and would see the return of Dead Rising 2 protagonist Chuck Greene.
Among the footage, Sinkewicz dropped some details on what could have been a useful addition to the cancelled entry. The Loot Containment System, which in contrast to previous entries that had your loot strewn about, making it difficult to...

Super Mario Kart didn’t invent racing games, but the changes it made to the usual genre formula made it feel like a revolution. There’s a reason why so many other developers have tried their hands at making kart games over the years.
Still, none have come close to dethroning Mario Kart as the king of kart racers. Even after eight mainline entries, the series is still going strong with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch, which is currently in the midst of receiving four dozen new tracks. While there are obviously numerous factors that have contributed to Mario Kart‘s incredible success over the years, the quality of the games themselves should be considered the franchise’s greatest asset. That quality is often most apparent in the design of Mario Kart‘s wonderful, wacky, and often perfectly-tuned tracks.

As the first major PS5 exclusive released since the console launched last November (with due respect to the incredible Returnal), many fans hope that Ratchet & Clank Rift: Apart will show us what the next generation of gaming technology is capable of.
That’s a lot of pressure to put on any game (even the latest entry in a proven franchise from an incredible studio), but considering that it could be a while before we get another major PS5 exclusive from a PlayStation Studios team, it makes sense that so many PS5 owners (and prospective PS5 owners) are treating Rift Apart as our clearest look yet at the future of console gaming.
Does Rift Apart live up to those lofty expectations? That’s the question we’ll try to answer as we dive into some of the game’s performance accomplishments (and a few shortcomings) to see whether or not this...

Long before he became the face of a comic book universe or started becoming known for slow motion action epics, director Zack Snyder started on already ambitious and controversial ground. Back in 2004, he made his directorial debut with a remake of George A. Romero’s celebrated 1978 zombie horror Dawn of the Dead. Following the maestro of undead cinema was no mean feat but Snyder’s film has attained a deserved reputation as one of the best horror remakes and had its fair share of interesting themes and ideas. Now, almost 20 years later, Snyder returns to these cinematic roots in spiritual successor Army of the Dead for Netflix (although it has received a cinema run too in America).
The film sees a future where a zombie outbreak hit Las Vegas leading to a violent struggle to contain the living dead threat, resulting in an eventual quarantining of the city. Some time later,...

Capcom has been hitting one home run after another as of late with the likes of Devil May Cry 5, Monster Hunter World and Resident Evil 2‘s fantastic remake, but what’s next for a publisher that’s arguably already achieved peak performance? Well, more of the same certainly can’t hurt and that’s exactly what it intends to deliver going forward.
As per its most recent earnings call, the Japanese company, while not specifically mentioning any unreleased projects it currently has in the works, outlines plans to release “multiple major titles” between now and March 2021. It’s worth noting, of course, that delays and unforeseen circumstances can always result in setbacks, and it remains to be seen whether the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic will have any impact on those plans moving forward.
As for the identity of these mysterious titles? Well, there are a few possibilities, to say the least.

There are a plethora of really shitty movies based on video games being released each year. None of them holding a candle to the source material it is based on. However each and every time I get suckered in because I want to be impressed by these attempts, as a movie fan and a gamer I need to be impressed. And let’s be honest, the premise of the Dead Rising games is just about absurd enough to work as a movie and with this being the second outing well have they learnt.

Last week at Comic-Con, I participated in roundtable interviews for Dead Rising: Endgame, the second film based on Capcom’s popular zombie video game franchise. With the Legendary Digital Media movie now available to watch on Crackle, the cast and crew discussed their badass characters in the sequel, plans for a Dead Rising TV series, and much more.
Keegan Connor Tracy and Marie Avgeropoulos on what attracted them to the Dead Rising franchise:
Keegan Connor Tracy: My role was actually supposed to be a man in the beginning. For whatever reason, they let me audition, even though it was supposed to be a man. I liked that. I liked that she was a strong character in that respect because originally she was meant to be a man. I felt that if they had written her as a woman, they wouldn’t have written her that way. Ducking out of a theatrical run in the vein of its predecessor, Sony’s Crackle and Legendary are partnering to release zombie-infested sequel Dead Rising: Endgame across streaming and video-on-demand services later in 2016, and it’s understood production is now officially underway on the film’s Vancouver set.
Continuing on the undead adventure, Jesse Metcalfe (John Tucker Must Die) reprises his Watchtower role as Chase Carter, now tasked with unravelling new mysteries that spawn a government conspiracy. In attempting to manufacture a cure, the plot description hints that the afflicted residents of East Mission City were instead used as the test subjects for Billy Zane’s “handsome, cruel” scientist, Rand.
Behind the lens, director Zach Lipovsky won’t return for Endgame and is replaced by Pat Williams (Cotinuum). That said, Crackle’s follow-up kept hold of its writing duo from the original, ensuring that both Tim Carter and Michael Ferris...

Rob Riggle as Frank West? That was all that I needed to know to be sold on seeing Dead Rising: Watchtower. Never mind the fact its based on one of the best zombie games of the last console generation – though we all know Left4Dead was The multiplayer zombie game – with a tongue in cheek story that played on the tropes of the genre, especially those found in the films of George A. Romero (after all, the first game was set in a mall!)
Dead Rising: Watchtower follows Chase Carter (Metcalfe), a reporter trying to make it big – but the pursuit of his career-defining story leads him into the heart of a zombie-infested warzone.

Legendary Digital Media, Contradiction Films and game developer Comcept Inc. are teaming to develop a live-action feature based on the upcoming video game "Mighty No. 9" which hits stores September 15th.
Legendary Digital and Contradiction previously teamed to produce "Dead Rising: Watchtower," a feature-length adaptation of the zombie video game series "Dead Rising," which premiered on Crackle's online streaming service. A sequel to that is already in the works.
The plan is for the "Mighty No. 9" film to have a similar digital platform premiere. Comcept CEO Keiji Inafune created the game which follows an android named Beck, the ninth in a team of ten combat robots called 'Mighty Numbers.'
When a computer virus strikes, attacking his fellow robots as well as machines around the world, Beck is the only one in his line of androids uninfected. Tomas Harlan and Tim Carter will develop and produce the movie.

Numb is a crime thriller. From director Jason R. Goode, the film takes place in a snowy clime. Here, rumours of buried gold lead a husband and wife into even more trecherous territory. The film stars: Jamie Bamber ("Battlestar Galactica"), Marie Avgeropoulos ("The 100"), Aleks Paunovic (Dead Rising: Watchtower) and Stefanie von Pfetten (Cracked) and others. Numb has finished primary shooting and several photos, from the film, are available here. For more on the story, Will (Bamber) and Dawn (Pfetten) experience financial insecurity. On their way home, after a financial crisis, they pick up a couple of hitchhikers and spot another, desperate traveller. He is hypothermic and on death's door. But, he also has some clues to a buried hoard of gold. A moral dilemma ensues, with Will and Dawn contemplating theft and even murder. The stills show the characters from the film. The frostbitten stranger is shown, in one of the photos.

Characters from Resident Evil, Devil May Cry, Soul Calibur and more collide in Project X Zone 2 for 3Ds. Here's the first trailer...
First appearing in Japan back in 2012, Project X Zone was a tactical RPG with a twist: its characters were culled from some of the country's biggest videogame series, including Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Mega Man X and Dead Rising.
Three years later, and here comes the sequel, which once again brings together some famous videogame faces for the Nintendo 3Ds - these include Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine from Resident Evil, Dante and Virgil from Devil May Cry and Jim Kazama and Kazuya Mishima from Tekken.
One of the fun things about the original Project X Zone was that it also brought back some more obscure characters as player-assisting Solo Units - Arthur from Ghosts 'N Goblins made a welcome appearance, for example, along with Opa-Opa from Sega's...

You may have noticed that yesterday, April 7, marks the 26th anniversary of the release of Major League. One of most memorable parts of the beloved baseball comedy is Dennis Haysbert's voodoo- loving, no-curveball-hitting Pedro Cerrano. Throughout the film, he prays to the statue of his deity, Jobu, for help healing his sick bats, but in real life, Haysbert wanted no part of that idol. Talking to Playboy about his role in the zombie apocalypse video game adaptation Dead Rising: Watchtower, the face of Allstate Insurance and the first black President of the United States said, in response to the interviewer suggesting he (Haysbert) should have the Jobu idol: I believe that that kind of stuff works and voodoo and all of that is a practiced religion and I really don.t need those kinds of symbols. It.s probably better not to have it, for me. That.s my...

I’ll confess that the Dead Rising franchise is near and dear to my heart, ever since I logged countless hours running around the Willamette Parkview Mall with a katana and a “protective” horse-head mask. Boasting insane contraptions, hordes of ferocious zombies, and psychopathic boss battles, the original game features enough cinematic fodder to string together its own wacky animated feature, but the thought of a live-action Dead Rising movie still packed an exciting punch. Thus, Dead Rising: Watchtower was born.
Unlike the games, Watchtower follows the exploits of a young internet journalist named Chase Carter (Jesse Metcalfe). Frank West (Rob Riggle) is a part of the chaos, but he watches as a zombie quarantine goes horribly awry form the safety of a television news room. Chase is the one who finds himself caught in the action, as a new Zombrex-proof virus strain traps the infected inside an East Mission...

Director: Zach Lipovsky. Writer: Tim Carter. Cast: Meghan Ory, Keegan Connor Tracy, Virginia Madsen and Jesse Metcalfe. Dead Rising: Watchtower is based on the Dead Rising series of games, from Capcom. This series is based on a zombie apocalypse, in the future. In the film, a quarantine zone gets overrun by the undead, with a reporter caught in the middle of the action. True popcorn fare, Dead Rising: Watchtower is easy on the lobes and quickly forgotten. But, the film is still entertaining as Chase Carter (Jesse Metcalfe) does his best to escape the quarantined zone. A social message, introduced late, involves the government and privacy. The message, along with the story, fall a little flat. Still, there are lots of great action scenes and the comedic tone creates for a few laughs. Dead Rising: Watchtower is a mostly enjoyable title, which does not challenge the noggin, too much. The...

Much like its stars, the zombie genre refuses to die. When Capcom released their sandbox zombie survival game “Dead Rising,” it became an instant hit. After all, who doesn’t want to run around an abandoned mall teeming with zombies while thinking of new and creative ways to kill them with merchandise? It’s what consumer dreams are made of. Now three entries deep into the series, and with over 7.6 million copies sold, Capcom is teaming up with Crackle to bring the world of “Dead Rising” to unlife. ”Dead Rising: Watchtower” follows Chase Carter (Jesse Metcalfe) as he journeys into the heart of a zombie-infested warzone. Carter hopes to get a career-defining scoop to help him make the jump from small-time online reporter to the big leagues. He is joined by Maggie (Virginia Madsen), a brave mother torn from her child. HitFix Harpy has the brand-new character poster for Maggie.

The fevered excitement of a potential zombie apocalypse is a perfect mining ground for an array of entertainment arenas. From TV shows, video games and movies, there’s never been a better time to pronounce your love of those flesh-gobbling undead shufflers than turning to a screen near you. While AMC’s The Walking Dead has commandeered the small screen for several years now, Legendary are hoping to take a swipe at the zombie flagship with their effort, Dead Rising: Watchtower.
Zach Lipovsky’s live-action adaptation showcases its roots in this first full-length trailer, which presents a mix of violent splatter-movie motifs and tongue-in-cheek comedy. In this case, its loyalty isn’t to a novel or comic book, but to the best-selling video game series which has so far shifted over 7.6 million units worldwide.

Zach Lipovsky's adaptation of the popular zombie video games has a lot to live up to. The games are extremely popular and visceral. Also super fun. This first clip appears to mirror the intensity pretty well and I'd say the production level looks great for an online release.

With little over three weeks until its premiere, Crackle has debuted the first clip for Zach Lipovsky’s live-action adaptation, Dead Rising: Watchtower.
As with the vast majority of other entries into the genre, this snippet features that scene; where the infected spanner gets thrown into the works and all hell breaks loose. Starring Jesse Metcalfe and Keegan Connor Tracy, we see the show’s main characters begin to piece together the puzzle to discover that, much like the title suggests, the dead are indeed beginning to rise up for a spot of lunch.
Mixing some interesting cinematography with first-person shots, Dead Rising: Watchtower is decidedly low-key, and that’s precisely the angle Lipovsky is aiming for. The fact that his adaptation is hitting the web as a digital release will no doubt allow for more creative freedom outside of the typical studio system, and we hope that the writing...
