Various Australian children aged between 8 to 14yrs, attempt to impress the judges. Each Coach selects an Artist for their team, with their backs to the stage. Sometimes, the artist will decide which Coach they'd like to work with. Once the teams are set, Coaches dedicate themselves to developing their singers, sharing advice, passing on what they've learned and experienced in their own successful careers.

The three artists they choose then sing again before they face the only public vote of the series, after which one of them is crowned as The Voice Kid of Australia.
