One of the oldest screenplays written by Daniel Strehlau. The synopsis under the title "Three Stories" was written in May 1997 for Strehlau's entry exams to The Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television, and Theatre in Lodz City in Poland - the leading Polish academy for future actors, directors, photographers, camera operators, and TV staff. The first draft was completed on December 27th, 1997 under the title "Three Stories: Mute, Need Thirst". On December 29, 1997, the last third part: "Thirst", after the previous two parts, was faxed to the head of the Film Production Department of the largest Polish TV broadcaster - TVP. In September 2000, Daniel Strehlau handed his screenplay "Three Stories" to Ms. Wei Ling Chang, Miramax Films acquisition. The meeting took place in the office of Miramax Films at 99 Hudson Street, NYC. After the meeting, a letter of interest was sent to Strehlau by Parker Stanberry, Miramax Films Acquisitions. In 2010 Daniel Strehlau changed fundamentally the first story, added smartphones, Facebook, social media and changed the title to "Brooklyn" with sub-stories: "Hope, Need, Thirst", since Brooklyn borough was his place of residency.
Agents of the following stars confirmed their availability for "Brooklyn": Luke Evans for "Rob Tuwim"; Ana De Armas for "B" in NEED; Robert DeNiro for "Griggio - The Gray Man" in NEED; Paul Dano for "Adam" in NEED; Jessy Plemons for "John Tretcher"; Irma Estel Laguerre for "Inahubereti, Native American Grandmother"; Zazie Beetz for Hipster painter "Irene" ; Dagmara Dominczyk for "Eve Lem" ; Jimmi Simpson for "Pimp Master Max"; Meghan, Duchess of Sussex for "Dr. Friedman, African American female - child psychotherapy doc" ; Elisabeth Mitchell for "Michelle Tuwim". In solidarity and unity with the strikes of SAGAFTRA and WGA, the production of "Brooklyn" has been postponed to 2024 in the case of contracts accepted and signed by all parties. The fight for fair wages and better working conditions is so needed in the new era of film, streaming platforms and broadcasting industries.
