Exclusive: Fox is continuing to double down on animation – adding hybrid animated-single-cam project Demi-God from Bella and the Bulldogs writer Katie Greenway to its development slate.
The network has handed the project, from writer and exec producer Greenway, a script commitment and is developing the project internally via Fox Entertainment.
Demi-God follows a powerless fast food employee who escapes into a fantasy world she’s created in her favorite video game – only to have it turn against her when the virtual townspeople are granted sentience in the game’s latest upgrade.
Greenway previously worked on Nickelodeon comedy Bella and the Bulldogs and wrote the script for Townies, a multi-camera comedy exec produced by Green Eggs and Ham writer/executive producer Jared Stern that was in development at CBS during the 2018 season.

Exclusive: Fox Entertainment is adding Ocean Village to its animation development slate. The network has given a script commitment to the project, from creator Daniel Cardenas Katz (Deep Space 69), and has ordered a backup script plus animatic supervising, Ocean Village follows the Diaz family as they navigate life in a sun-baked tropical village based on the Florida island where series creator Katz grew up, and experienced his first iguana attack. The Diazes are part-immigrant, blended, multi-cultural, and trying to get by in what would be paradise if it wasn’t for the raccoon gangs, beach bums, crusty retirees and mosquitos the size of cats.

In September 2013, Mondo Media distributed a film based on Dick Figures, one of its most popular animated series. The movie was a big success. Mondo released the film across 12 installments, which combined to draw more than 14 million views on YouTube. Encouraged by the success of that film, Mondo is now working on three new films. It will produce a sequel to Dick Figures: The Movie as well as new films based off two of its other hit series: Happy Tree Friends and Deep Space 69. In order to help realize these projects, Mondo has enlisted the help of Bill Schultz, an animation executive who produced several seasons of The Simpsons. Dick Figures: The Movie was funded via a Kickstarter campaign, but Mondo is pledging "bigger budgets and theatrical production values" to the three new features. Those budgets will include large marketing campaigns that will promote each film in advance of their respective release dates.
