This is a movie about a wife who gets punched in the face by her husband over any minor disagreement. In one instance, the wife has prepared dinner for her husband, but it is still in the oven when he gets home, so he cracks her in the eye.
The wife seeks advice from her family and church. Both tell her that spousal abuse is normal, and that it's her fault for not being submissive enough to her husband. She brings up the idea of getting divorced, at which point, everybody in her life shames her. The movie ends with her staying with a husband who still hits her. The physical abuse is never addressed, except to say that it's the wife's fault. Oh, did I mention that this is supposedly a true story?
A lot of women have had this movie recommended to them by there pastors. If you are reading this first, I implore you not to watch this movie, and furthermore, to cut anyone who supports it out of your life entirely and immediately. This movie unambiguously says that it is okay to beat your wife.
