Over the past decade, Lily James has distinguished herself by building one of the most varied resumes as any film actor her age. After getting her start on British television, James first became known to American audiences in 2012 when she joined the cast of “Downton Abbey” as the love-struck Lady Rose MacClare, a role that earned James two Screen Actors Guild Awards as a member of the show’s ensemble cast.
The actress quickly followed up that television triumph with one on the big screen in the title role of Disney’s live-action “Cinderella,” directed by Kenneth Branagh, which clearly proved her appeal to audiences of all ages. One of the most reliable screen presences in recent years, James showed enormous range in choosing her projects, from such crowd pleasers as “Baby Driver” and “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again” to more intimate films as “The Dig” and “Little Woods,...

Everyone is aware of how talented director Steven Spielberg is, however, not many people know that the director is equally influential in the gaming industry. In 1999, the director created and served as a producer for a first-person shooter video game, Medal of Honor, which was developed by DreamWorks Interactive and published by Electronic Arts.
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond
The Medal of Honor franchise was quite popular in the 2000s, however, the competition from franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield slowed it down. In 2020, the franchise made a strong comeback with Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond. It was certainly a remarkable game as it became the only video game to win an Oscar. The game includes the short documentary Colette, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short Subject at the 93rd Academy Awards.

The BAFTAs have a soft spot for home-grown talent. Earlier this year, “Good Luck to You, Leo Grande” scored four bids at the British Academy Film Awards, including Best Actor (Daryl McCormack) and Best Actress (Emma Thompson). Before that, in 2022, Adeel Akhtar snuck into the Best Actor lineup for “Ali & Ava” and Joanna Scanlan won Best Actress for “After Love.”

Exclusive: Emerald Fennell likened making Saltburn, her dangerously dark comedy of class and lack of manners, “to taking your clothes off and exposing yourself.”
The filmmaker, who won an Oscar and BAFTAs for her debut feature Promising Young Woman, clarified that the “transgressive” material that she’s interested in working on means “that you have to spend a lot of your time as a director saying, ‘Trust me, I think this how we’re going to do it.’ And so then people watch it, which is so thrilling. But yeah, you are showing yourself. You are taking your clothes off and exposing yourself.”
She added that Saltburn, while made on a big canvas, is a ”very intimate“ movie.
She told me during a long conversation at the Telluride Film Festival, where the film had its world premiere, that this is a film “about needing and wanting and desire and sex.

Plot: A three-part drama, based on the extraordinary rise and fall of MP John Stonehouse. As a high-flying member of Harold Wilson’s Labour government and a seemingly devoted family man, Stonehouse’s perfect life spirals out of control in the early 1970s amid rumors of fraud and espionage.
Review: There is no shortage of true crime stories that can be adapted into television dramas, but it takes a unique tale that can make such a series funny. Murder and death don’t tend to work well in humorous adaptations, but when a bizarre series of events is so bafflingly strange and involves no one dying, it can appease many audiences. Coming from the United Kingdom, Stonehouse is a darkly hilarious true crime story that was big news in the 1970s but remained a relatively unknown curiosity in the States. A couple of years ago, the gently charming Brit pic The Dig told the “true-life” story of autodidactic archaeologist Basil Brown (played with low-key aplomb by Ralph Fiennes) being sidelined from the unearthing of the Sutton Hoo treasures by a snobby establishment attempting to take credit for his work. That winning formula is revisited in this latest seriocomic drama from the team behind 2013’s Oscar-nominated Philomena: director Stephen Frears, writer Jeff Pope and writer-actor Steve Coogan. In The Lost King, it’s Sally Hawkins’s amateur historian-sleuth Philippa Langley who gets to butt heads with the archaeological establishment as she pursues her dream to find the mortal remains of the much-maligned King Richard III.

Banijay Rights has set a new returning drama series titled “Runners” with writer John Preston and exec producer Ellie Wood of Clearwood Films, the team behind “Stonehouse” and “The Dig.”
“Runners” tells the story of the world’s first police force, the Bow Street Runners, who were formed in the 1740s in London, which at the time was facing a colossal crime wave.
The Chief Magistrate of London at the time, Heny Fielding (who also happened to be a celebrated novelist), decided to take on this criminal underworld by assembling a group of police.
“This extraordinary story will tell of how a group of just six police officers, none with any training or experience, set about imposing law and order on a completely lawless society and embarked on solving one of the strangest cases of its time – one with momentous political and social ramifications,” reads the logline.

"Now that everybody's wide awake, we dig!" Saban Films has unveiled the trailer for an indie thriller titled Dig, from filmmaker K. Asher Levin who usually works as a producer in TV. Not to be confused with the other Netflix film called The Dig, this is a whole different story. A widowed father and his daughter whose house is up for demolition, are taken hostage by a dangerous couple, who won't stop until they retrieve what lies beneath the property. The father and daughter must work together to outsmart their captors and escape. Starring Thomas Jane, Emile Hirsch, Liana Liberato, Harlow Jane, and Makana David. The film "promises to be heart-stopping and action-packed, and is sure to showcase some great fight sequences from the" small cast. Doesn't look that bad, surprisingly, but it doesn't look that good either. Take a look below. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for K.

So, here’s a bit of a “flip”. This pre-holiday Wednesday sees the release of two sequels, Sing 2 and Matrix: The Resurrection (not that unusual for the big studios). So, what almost “balances” them out? Why a “prequel”, naturally. And though you’d think that the first film of this franchise back in 2015 would count as an “origin” story, this one goes further back. Much further, nearly a hundred years really. In that first flick, a super-secret society was in full operation, but we didn’t know how or when it was first formed. Well, wonder no more. It’s time to head down for a “fitting” and learn about that original “sharp-dressed man”, The King’S Man.

Straight Line Crazy, beginning performances March 16, 2022, opening March 23 and running through June 18, will reunite Fiennes, Hare and Hytner following their 2020 collaboration on The Bridge’s Beat the Devil.
Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Described as “an account of the life of a man whose iron will exposed the weakness of democracy in the face of charismatic conviction,” Straight Line Crazy tells the story of Moses, who for forty years was the most powerful man in New York, creating new parks, new bridges and 627 miles of expressway until grass roots campaigns in the 1950s began to organize against his ideas of what a city should be.

Mystery fans, rejoice!!
There's a new Acorn TV Original right around the corner, and it's very, very good.
P.D. James wrote 14 novels based on detective and poet Adam Dalgliesh, and the new series simply goes by the title Dalgliesh.
Bertie Carvel is bringing the enigmatic yet emotionally intelligent and empathetic Dalgliesh to life in a season set in 1970s England.
Dalgliesh specializes in solving unusual murders. The cases may sound relatively benign, but they unfold unusually and strike a chord with the viewer.
We'll first meet Dalgliesh looking into the murder of a nursing student poisoned to death during a live training demonstration (it's a death that sticks with you!).
Another investigation will involve the murders of a homeless man and a recently resigned Tory MP whose throats were slit in a London church.
Dalgliesh will also be called upon to solve a series of suspicious deaths at a home for the disabled.
