For a few years. Corona quarantine finally made it possible. I get the idea of this. Seems Dan Levy wondered what the Kardashians would be like without money. The parallels with Arrested Development however are apparent, if a slightly different bend.
Maybe Arrested Development just ruined other sitcoms for me...but this is just extremely simple. It isn't deep. It is all surface level. Instantly forgettable. Not quotable. Not memorable. There's nothing that would make me want to watch it again.
I don't know if shows like Arrested Development did that sort of stuff on purpose, or if it just happened by accident/naturally, and you can't really force it.
This show so far is fine. It's decent. Couple of smiles and laughs...but nothing groundbreaking etc.
So...Arrested Development came out season 1 on fire.
Seinfeld, Scrubs, The Office(NBC) and other sitcoms didn't really hit their stride until they found their identity in season 2 or 3.
So...is this all that Schitt's Creek is? Or will it improve and get better etc.
No...all shows do not need to be watchable multiple times...but when they are, that is what seems to make them part of the culture. Seinfeld, Friends, Office, It's Always Sunny(Earlier seasons) etc. The episodes will be watched multiple times, and there will be repeatable and quotable lines etc. I don't know if this will have that or not.
This seems like they are going to be mostly 6 and 7 star episodes.
A 10 seems highly unlikely at this point...and even any 9's.
An 8 may squeeze in, but this looks like a mediocre, well acted show. Love the Levy's and O'hara.
