"In the Clouds" is a wonderful little romantic comedy short from Argentina from Marcelo Mitnik. Most of the dialog is in Spanish and it's been subtitled into English--which is great because my Spanish isn't much better than the poor American in the movie who constantly struggles to say the right thing.
When the film begins, you see two people talking about how in love they are with their partners and how they want to be old fashioned romantics. So, while their friends just recommend they live together and avoid saying that they love the other person, each is determined to get married and do it up right--with a romantic engagement. She's expecting him to go down on one knee and he's expecting her to fall for his very elaborate stunt involving, of all things, a radio controlled airplane! I would say more about this film and these two hopeless romantics, but it really would spoil the surprises--and the film provides plenty! Just watch this picture.
This film has so much going for it. The script and direction are just superb. The film also is heartwarming, quite romantic as well as cute and charming. My only objection is that it left me wanting more...the sign of an exceptional short film.
