The latest release from Raphael Colantonio and Arkane Studios (Dishonored, Dishonored 2) will draw comparisons with Bioshock and System Shock, but the game Prey reminds me of most is Alien: Isolation. Both titles rely on a haunted house setting in space, carving out an atmosphere that’s thick with dread and like Isolation before it, Prey evokes a strong sense of place long after it’s over, with a number of dizzying high points along the way. But more than anything, it shares Isolation’s appetite for mixing high drama with sheer frustration, replete with blink-and-you-miss-it game over screens and an assortment of balancing issues that leave you sour.

In today’s age of information, it’s pretty darn difficult for secrets to be kept in Hollywood. Unless you’re Disney or J.J. Abrams (or worse, both), then good luck keeping some of those fun Easter eggs in your films secret for very long. Somewhere down the line, someone is going to spoil it for you in a big way (remember Tom Cruise’s surprise role in Tropic Thunder that was spoiled for everyone?). Well, it looks like we may be facing a similar situation in Alien: Covenant (though I suppose the key difference here is that Alien: Covenant isn't a comedy).
