Quotes

  • Kate Beckett : Anything else you can tell us about the victim?

Lanie Parish : He was maybe early 30s. And a sharp dresser. Check out that powder blue suit.

Kate Beckett : Yeah, straight from the disco era.

Richard Castle : And the testament to the truly indestructible nature of polyester.

  • Richard Castle : I had no idea you could disco dance.

Kate Beckett : Oh, Castle, I'm a woman of many hidden talents.

Richard Castle : I look forward to discovering every single one.

  • Richard Castle : A dead man from the Carter administration *entombed* in cement. I am intrigued.

  • [after an attempt on his life]

Harold Metzger : I was like a sitting duck in there. How could you let this happen? What kind of a cop are you anyway?

Richard Castle : Harold, we're doing everything we can to bring in the gunman.

Harold Metzger : This is what I get for being a snitch.

Richard Castle : Well, technically, you're not a snitch, because you haven't actually told us anything yet.

  • Martha Rodgers : Richard, why do you just dismiss all of my ideas about your ceremony?

Richard Castle : You mean, like your ideas of bringing in giant ice sculptures of Nikki Heat, or hiring the Vienna Boys' Choir, or having the Blue Angels fly overhead?

  • Kate Beckett : I will tell you why not. Because the second Harold sets foot in this place, it will burst his little '70s bubble.

Richard Castle : It won't burst his bubble if it... looks like the '70s.

Kate Beckett : You cannot be suggesting that we redecorate the precinct.

Richard Castle : The bare bones of this place will totally work. We just need to take away the computers and put back the typewriters.

Kate Beckett : No! No. Absolutely not.

Richard Castle : People tried to kill Harold because he knows who murdered Vince. This is the only way we can get him to talk to us. He's the only lead we have.

Kate Beckett : Captain Gates will never go for it.

Richard Castle : Captain Gates isn't here. You're in charge.

Kate Beckett : And what about all the other cops? Their clothes are a dead giveaway.

Richard Castle : Not if you, as ranking officer, order them to come to work dressed in 1970s clothing.

    Kate Beckett : What?

Richard Castle : I have opened an account at a costume shop at no small expense. They're gonna help us in our little endeavor by providing 1970s police uniforms.

    Kate Beckett : Castle...

Richard Castle : This will be a *minor* disruption. We re-dress the squad room, just long enough to walk Harold through, let him dig on that '70s vibe, and then he gives us a statement. It worked before, it'll work again.

Kate Beckett : The morgue was one room. You're talking about an entire '70s makeover. That is a *massive* undertaking.

Richard Castle : Which is why I've called a specialist... Of sorts.

    Kate Beckett : No.

Richard Castle : Yes. My mother is gonna come, help us coordinate...

Kate Beckett : You're doing this for your mother?

Richard Castle : No, of course not. A little bit. Yes. Well... we did say we'd give her a project.

Kate Beckett : Yeah, for our wedding! Not for my precinct!

Richard Castle : Let's face it. We cannot let that woman anywhere near our wedding. But... she will love this. And then we get to solve the greatest mystery of the disco era. Besides the popularity of disco itself. It's a win-win!

Kate Beckett : I highly doubt that... But I don't see a better option.

  • [about Martha going overboard when asked to look into flowers for the wedding]

Kate Beckett : Look, she means well, Castle. She just wants to be a part of this. So lets find something for her to do. Some kind of a... wedding project.

Richard Castle : Yes, you're right, but something she can't turn into an over-the-top disaster.

[Both Castle and Beckett stop and think for a moment]

Kate Beckett : I'll keep thinking.

Richard Castle : Yeah, me, too.

  • Richard Castle : [on phone with Beckett]  Hey, what is taking so long down there? Harold is ready to go and I'm running out of excuses.

Kate Beckett : This is a total fiasco.

Richard Castle : A fiasco named Martha Rodgers?

Kate Beckett : She's turned this into a *huge* production. She's even brought in actors.

Richard Castle : She what? Would... Would you put her on, please?

    Kate Beckett : Yeah.

    [to Martha]

Kate Beckett : Uh, Martha? Hey. Castle.

Martha Rodgers : [taking the phone]  Richard?

    Kate Beckett : Yeah.

Martha Rodgers : Ah. Hi, darling.

    Richard Castle : Actors, mother?

Martha Rodgers : In light of the abysmal talent pool you have here, yes, I've hired a few actors. And not only that, I have written these scripts so that everybody knows exactly what they're playing.

Richard Castle : We don't need scripts! And we don't need actors to play cops. We have actual cops!

Martha Rodgers : That is such an ignorant thing to say and an insult to the craft of acting.

Richard Castle : Mother... all we need is to walk Harold through the precinct and into interrogation.

Martha Rodgers : Richard, I am trying to create an authentic experience here so that the two of you can crack this case. Now, is that so wrong?
