HBO Max and “Sesame Street” producer Sesame Workshop have announced a new partnership which will bring the show’s 50-year library, as well as five new seasons of the show, to the streamer.
Beginning with season 51, the historic children’s series will premiere on HBO Max, before moving over to air on its traditional home of PBS Kids. All of the new “Sesame Street”-related content will also be made available to PBS Kids after premiering on the WarnerMedia-owned streamer. HBO will continue to air “Sesame Street” through season 50.
The deal is indicative of HBO Max’s continuing push into the kids’ and family programming domain, as the streamer announced two executive appointments to its family friendly divisions earlier this week.

HBO Max will be the new Svod home of Sesame Street, which will be relocating from HBO and its on-demand platforms HBO Now/Go. WarnerMedia’s upcoming streaming platform has closed an expansive five-year deal with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit media and educational organization behind the iconic children program. It includes five new 35-episode seasons of Sesame Street, four new live-action and animated series, including an Elmo-hosted talk show and an animated Sesame Street spinoff, annual specials, as well as the show’s 50-year library which includes more than 4,500 episodes.
The deal will kick in with Sesame Street‘s 51st season. It will succeed the current five-year pact Sesame Workshop inked with HBO in 2015, which comes to an end with the upcoming Season 50 of Sesame Street.
This is the first time the entire Sesame Street library has been made available. It hasn’t been determined exactly how many episodes will...

No one needs to tell WarnerMedia and HBO Max bosses Bob Greenblatt and Kevin Reilly how to get to Sesame Street.
The upcoming WarnerMedia streaming service is taking “Sesame Street” from HBO under an expanded relationship with Sesame Workshop. The new agreement will bring five more seasons of “Sesame Street” and four spinoffs to HBO Max, as well as annual specials and the legendary preschool program’s 50-year library.
Sunny days, indeed.
The deal is currently just for the United States, though the parties are looking towards expanding globally as HBO Max does. HBO Max is set to launch here in Spring 2020.
Seasons 51-55 of “Sesame Street” will each feature 35 new episodes. After the seasons and episodes premiere on HBO Max, they will become available for free on PBS Kids about nine months after they debut on the Svod service.

We're in a London hotel and Elmo has just given us a big kiss to say hello. Yep, the red Sesame Street monster is in the capital for a bit of sightseeing - and to get back to The Furchester Hotel for some new episodes. So we've come to meet him, try not to fangirl too much and have a little Elmo chat.
Over the course of the interview, Elmo lets us tickle him, tells us that he wants to duet with Adele, reveals that he's U-turned on Brussels sprouts, tells us more about The Furchester Hotel and even takes a selfie with us. Understandably, we leave with a huge grin on our face... Read on for everything we found out from Elmo!
Hi Elmo! Are you tired? You've had a long trip.
"A little bit, but that's okay. Elmo's having coffee. Elmo's flight was pretty good - watched some movies.

Sesame Street is looking on to capitalize on their franchise 40+ years late. This season we saw the blue, hungry Cookie Monster land his own show with Elmo. The duo has found success on The Furchester Hotel, making their team decide the need for more spin-off specials. Thus we now hear that they will start off by giving Cookie Monster his very own special entitle The Cookie Thief. It will follow the story of a new cookie themed museum that has their artwork go missing. This will premier sometime next month and will also have a website launched around it.
It seems like a fun idea. I am curious as to why they choose him over the other ones, especially when you consider Cookie Monster was never a major character. However, we do applaud them for a change of pace and we cannot wait to see where they go next with...

Elmo and Cookie Monster's new CBeebies puppet show The Furchester Hotel begins later this month (September), the BBC has confirmed.
The Sesame Street pair star alongside brand new characters in the kids' show set in a haphazardly run 'almost world-class' hotel.
The team behind Sesame Street is co-producing the project with the BBC channel. It is aimed at 3-6-year-olds and is filmed at CBeebies' new base at MediaCityUK in Salford, Manchester.
Describing the characters, the BBC wrote: "As guests arrive at the hotel they are greeted by monster owner Funella Furchester, her loving husband, Furgus Fuzz, and their daughter, the unflappable Phoebe Furchester-Fuzz.
"Elmo, Phoebe's cousin who is on an extended visit and Cookie Monster, who has landed his dream job as room service and dining room waiter, join the Furchester family at the hotel. Completing the ensemble is Isabel, a furry bell monster - guests won't get...
