2010’s In my previous article there was a comment regarding a film that I had left out. I apologise in advance if there are any films that I miss out. This may be due to me simply forgetting or just not seeing a particular film. After the Forbidden Kingdom, Jackie Chan would return to Hong Kong to work on Director Derek Yee’s Shinjiku Incident (2009). A total change of pace for Chan, with a purely dramatic role, it seemed it was a step in the right direction for the ageing action star. Unfortunately Chan’s next leading role would be in the family movie The Spy Next Door (2010), which is not only Chan’s poorest American made film, but one of the poorest of his career....

Moving into the 1990’s Golden Harvest would once again make an attempt for American success. Unfortunately their first American made film of the decade was the poor China O Brien (1990), an attempt by Golden Harvest to launch star Cynthia Rothrock as a star in her native country. Golden Harvest had previously worked well with Rothrock on the Hong Kong productions of Yes Madam (1985), Millionaires Express (1986), Above the Law (1986), Inspector Wears Skirts (1988) and The Blond Fury (1989). From a business stand point it makes sense why they would choose Rothrock to front China O Brien. The main issue is how director Robert Clouse chooses to shoot the action, showing that he hadn’t learned anything since his Enter the Dragon days, if...

Every great baker has to start somewhere, and for Sarah Michelle Gellar, her early days came with a bit of ribbing from her actor-turned-chef husband Freddie Prinze Jr.
Though she now owns her own culinary business, the actress says she was better at ordering out when she was younger.
“ always used to tease me,” Gellar told People at Martha Stewart‘s annual American Made Summit in New York City. “I’m from New York — I ordered delivery. Before there was Instacart, before there was Postmates, there was delivery. There was not a restaurant in New York City that didn’t deliver.

British horror was still going through a transitional phase by the early ‘70s. Trying to turn people’s perception away from cobweb strewn castles and fog laden swamps, they played in the modern day with such classics as Tales from the Crypt, The Abominable Dr. Phibes, The Vault of Horror, Theatre of Blood, and Asylum. (Okay, those are either anthologies or Vincent Price films, but there are many other goodies as well.) So strong was the vibe that an American made the leap across the pond for his directorial debut, Raw Meat Aka Death Line (1972), a grimy, funny, and surprisingly poignant first effort from Gary Sherman (Dead and Buried).
Released in England in ’72 under the original Death Line title, it would take until September of ’73 to be unleashed on American soil by Aip under its better known moniker. Critics were decidedly mixed on Raw Meat; Roger Ebert considered it a “good debut” for Sherman,...

The film previously known as Mena is now called American Made…
The last time Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman made a film together, it started out being known as All You Need Is Kill. Then it changed to Edge Of Tomorrow. Then, for the home formats release, it was effectively retitled Live Die Repeat. Notwithstanding the fact that the end movie was very strong, Warner Bros struggled to settle on how to sell it.
Déjà vu, then? Liman and Cruise have come back together for Mena, a new drama based on the story of Barry Seal. Seal was involved with drug kingpin Pablo Escobar, and was recruited by the CIA to run a massive covert operation, one that had major ramifications for Ronald Reagan’s White House.

Blake Lively may have been nesting over most of Thanksgiving weekend, but on Sunday, the mom-to-be switched gears to kick-start her holiday decorating. Blake kept it casual for her shopping trip in Westport, Ct, donning an open jacket and sweater that revealed her growing baby bump. The actress pushed a cart full of items to her vehicle, on top of which a large Christmas tree was securely fastened. We last caught a glimpse of Blake's maternity style in early November, when she stunned at Martha Stewart's American Made Summit in NYC. The day before, she treated her feet to a pair of Louboutins. Keep reading to see Blake's latest pictures, and then check out all the times she's shown off her baby bump. Source: Splash News Online; Social Share Image: Getty/Andrew Toth...

In the past, homemaker extraordinaire Martha Stewart has taken some subtle digs at Blake Lively's new Preserve livestyle company, but both ladies made nice when they met up at the American Made event in New York City over the weekend.
Ms. Stewart introduced the pregnant “Gossip Girl” actress to the crowd, calling her “my friend and neighbor,” and adding, “You looked very different when I last saw you.”
Lively met Martha through their mutual realtor- "When we met, Martha was like, 'I know how to ride a motorcycle!' That's the only woman who can creep up on my man and I'd be okay with it."
Furthermore, Blake explained that Preserve isn’t just about her- "I've always been hungry for knowledge and experience. I don't have that amount of expertise but I have an incredible amount of passion."
"I want to create my own career and I want to create my own world.

Despite their much-publicized tension in the realm of artisan mustard and rustic table settings, Martha Stewart and Blake Lively were Damon-and-Affleck levels of chummy this past Saturday at Stewart's American Made Summit. Stewart invited Lively to speak at the annual event to tout Lively's role as lifestyle curator/CEO of her online brand, Preserve.us, and despite some Stewart's skepticism of Lively's efforts in the past, it seemed that all was water under the bridge. The Wolf Of Wall Street‘s female lead, Margot Robbie, is in talks to star in in the live-action big screen adaptation of the Japanese anime Ghost In The Shell. Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) is currently attached to direct the film for DreamWorks from a script written by Bill Wheeler. Snow White and the Huntsman looked great visually, and I'm sure he'll bring some visual awesomeness to Ghost in the Shell. But let's wait and see how he tells the story, because he failed in that aspect with Snow White.
The story follows the exploits of a member of a covert ops unit of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission that specializes in fighting technology-related crime. If you haven't seen the anime yet, you really need to watch it to really appreciate the greatness of the story.

Memories of Underdevelopment
Directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea
Written by Edmundo Desnoes
1968, Cuba
A film directed by Tomas Gutierrez Alea in 1968, Memories of Underdevelopment looks at imperial influence in Cuba during the Cold War. Imperial influences referring to the United States and Russia as both countries believed that Cuba was vulnerable due to its status as a developing nation. Because of the United States’ close proximity, Alea emphasized their capitalistic impact through the character, Sergio, an upper class writer who never quite lived out his passion, as he struggles to define who he is, what he loves, and where he is placed within his own country amidst its Revolution. Because Alea filmed this during a time of political turmoil, he mixed low budget, documentary footage of the revolution with a fictional narrative in order to distract those who had the power to ban it. Which is typical for Cuban cinema during the 1960s.
