There was a total absence of any humour, zero light moments, the crimes were bleak, as was Sam's love life. I'm all for good, gritty drama, which this certainly is, but come on, it felt like every single character here lost, it was so bleak it was almost indulgent. The final scenes sum it up well, bleak.
I'll applaud it for delivering a shock, a real twist that didn't seem even a remote possibility. Well acted, once again I thought Lesley Manville stood head and shoulders.
It's one of describe as heavy, but it's well made. 7/10
