Awfully good considering Huber's inexperience
planktonrules9 December 2016
When Karl Huber made this full-length film, he's only directed one other film...and it was a short. Considering this and that he wrote, edited, produced and did special effects for the film, it's really quite remarkable and I saw the film at the Tampa Bay Underground Film Festival.

The film is set in 1938--just before Orson Welles' famous "War of the World" radio broadcast. Clara (anja Akstin) is an agoraphobic who is afraid to leave her home. So, she is out of work and soon to be dispossessed from her house. During this tough time, a young detective comes to her home to tell her that some killer is targeting women just like her! Later, during the broadcast, the film shows Clara trying to cope....and rise to the occasion when the killer strikes.

This picture was shot in black & white--not a bad idea considering the time period in which it's set. The acting is good, the music really nice and it's well worth seeing...especially since after the film ended, Huber was interviewed and said that the film was made for a paltry $25,000! A treat to see and a great example of an economical production that looks like a million! If you are interested in seeing it, it's currently available on Amazon and Amazon Prime...and I do suggest you give it a look.

This is one of the most boring movies I've ever watched. Very little dialogue, extremely sketchy plot (girl stalked by serial killer in her home believing that the Earth is under attack by Martians as she listens to the War of the Worlds radio broadcast) (and no, it's not a comedy), and the overall look and feel of the movie (other than being black and white) was completely unconvincing to be the year 1938.
