- Over breakfast to celebrate the fact she's not dead, Katherine notices a strand of her hair has gone white.
Cuddled in front of the fire at home, Damon waits for something to go wrong. Silas walks in, full of glee over the fact he finally gets to die.
At the cabin, Tessa wakes up Stefan. They bonded over body shots last night. Tessa is jazzed because she saw a text to Stefan on his phone saying that Silas took the cure and is a witch again. She's excited to get to kill him.
Back at Salvatore central, Silas is ready to destroy the other side so he doesn't get stuck there and he can die and reunite with his love Amara. He promises Elena he'll bring Bonnie, but first he has to find the anchor and destroy it.
It's in a stockyard in New Jersey and is about to be shipped out. Jeremy joins the Silas scheming and has a hard time accepting Silas as an ally. Silas gets a little twitchy and uses his witchiness to suggest they all play nice, lighting the tips of his fingers on fire.
Tessa explains to Stefan that the Travelers don't want the other side destroyed and have had the anchor for 2,000 years, constantly moving it. She's sure they won't let him near it, and even if they do, he won't be able to destroy it -- she won't say why not.
As Damon, Jeremy and Silas are getting ready to leave, Silas tells Elena she can't come, because the fact she looks like his one true love kinda distracts him. Silas suggests they get moving since they only have til sundown.
At the cabin, Tessa tries to walk out the door but finds it's spelled. She knows the spell means they can't leave til sundown; she taught Silas the spell.
Caroline comes back to her dorm and starts packing, since Dr. Maxfield knows they're vampires. It takes her a second to realize Katherine isn't Elena. After she does, Katherine offers to help her with Dr. Maxfield in exchange for a place to stay and Elena's meal card.
Elena calls Stefan to check in, but gets Tessa instead. Tessa implies they just had sex.
Elena calls Damon on the road and Silas mentions what they did to Stefan, breaking his neck over and over again to break his psychic bond with Silas. Elena decides to go visit Stefan, suggesting maybe they can bond over their shared annoyance at Damon.
Silas tries a joke: "Knock, knock. Who's there? Mayor. Mayor who? No one, because I killed the mayor!"
Dr. Maxfield records his notes, but hears a noise in his lab. When he's sufficiently distracted, Caroline pops out -- and Katherine injects him with something that knocks him out.
At the cabin, Tessa welcomes Elena in. Elena tries to apologize to Stefan. He says she has this annoying tendency to do whatever Damon says. "Do you really think that sleeping with Tessa is going to solve anything?" Elena says.
Stefan stares at Tessa blankly. She admits she might have embellished. Feeling awkward, Elena tries to excuse herself. But she can't get out of the spelled cabin.
Damon, Jeremy and Silas reach the stockyard. Silas suggests the universe is trying to bring his doppelganger together with Amara's, meaning Damon should be worried about Stefan with Elena. Silas admits he has no idea what the anchor looks like.
Dr. Maxfield wakes up in his lab. Caroline explains they're trying to drain his vervaned blood so they can compel him to forget they're vampires. Maxfield tells Caroline and Katherine, who he thinks is Elena, that there's a meeting of his secret society today. They were going to invite Elena until they started to suspect her. All Katherine has to do to be accepted is convince them Elena isn't a vampire. Maxfield doesn't think she'll get past the threshold. Katherine likes her chances.
In the warehouse, Damon and Silas go through crates looking for the anchor.
Tessa calls Damon's phone, ordering him to kill Silas or she'll kill Elena. She mentions she lured Elena there using jealousy -- of Stefan.
Katherine knocks on the door of the Whitmore house. She walks in without being invited and chows down at the buffet. Aaron says hi to her, but has no idea what she's talking about when she mentions the society. Katherine hacks a little and notices one of her teeth has fallen out.
At the cabin, Elena feels trapped and angry. She seethes as Stefan laughs with Tessa over what to have for dinner. Elena is sure that Damon will kill Silas like Tessa ordered him to, and she's angry over what that means for Bonnie's chances of coming back.
At the warehouse, Damon fills Jeremy in and tells him Bonnie can't come back.
Jeremy is upset, but Bonnie appears and tells him it's OK.
Back in the warehouse, Damon gets cornered by Travelers, who chant something that makes Damon's daylight ring useless. The sunlight coming in the windows burns him.
Damon rushes over and rips the heart out of one, telling them he was about to do them the favor of killing Silas. The other says they don't want Silas dead yet. Damon flings a dagger through his chest.
Back with Dr. Maxfield, Caroline has finished de-vervaning his blood. She compels him and asks about the secret society. He says it's called Augustine and includes people with extraordinary talents. His is being brilliant.
He covered up Megan's death because she was killed by the Augustine vampire. She asks who that is, but his colleague Diane Freeman knocks on his door. Caroline quickly compels him to forget everything. Diane tells him he missed the Whitmore party, and she saw Elena walk through the door. He doesn't know why he thought she was a vampire. "I guess I was wrong," he says.
Stefan cooks for Tessa, flirting with her. Elena hurts watching it and tells him that if he was himself, he wouldn't like Tessa much. Tessa walks over to the other side of the cabin to call Damon. Stefan whispers so only Elena can hear it. He tells her he doesn't hate her and he's got this.
Damon tells Tessa that Silas isn't dead yet. He wants to know what the Traveler's motives are. They want Silas because he drank the cure, so now he's the cure. Tessa explains that she had to bind her spell to something that wouldn't die and would last. She leaves it to Damon to figure it out.
When Tessa gets off the phone, Stefan stabs Tessa with a knife. With the sun setting, both Stefan and Elena are able to run out of the cabin.
In the warehouse, Damon realizes what 2,000 years old and indestructible means. The anchor isn't a thing, it's Amara, she never killed her. Silas finds her, frozen like a statue, in one of the crates. He drags one of the Travelers over to feed her his blood. She slowly comes back to life.
Silas tells Amara he took the cure to be with her. When she realizes he has the cure, she grabs a piece of glass and stabs him, then drinks his blood. "I can't live another day," she says.
In his lab, Maxfield looks for his tape recorder. Katherine brings it back after having listened to it. She has lots of questions, including who the subject with the abnormal blood he was recording about is. She introduces herself as Katherine and shows him her tooth. "I think I'm dying and I need you to save my life," she says.
Back at the warehouse, Amara stumbles around hearing voices. Damon finds her.
Stefan brings Elena back to the house. "Even with no memory, you're still you," she says. His instincts were always to protect her, and he's still doing it. Damon and Jeremy are waiting for her.
Bonnie says the fact they couldn't bring her back was for the best.
They lost Silas, but they now have to protect Amara because she's mortal. So the fate of the other side, where Bonnie is, rests on Amara. Damon introduces Elena to "Crazypants," Amara in his trunk.
Stefan goes up to his bedroom and is surprised to find wounded Tessa waiting for him. She refuses his offer to heal her. She reminds him how she eased his pain when she found him. She brings him to his knees by flooding him with his bad memories, including drowning over and over again in the safe. She reminds him that she's the one who rescued him.
