Boyei Gelo-airing on Zee Bangla at 9 pm,is the daily soap Bengalis had been waiting for for many years.There have been many soaps where joint families were shown,but never before has it been shown with such a lot of humor. It includes a star cast of who's who of Bengali theater and has noteworthy film stars like Paran Bandyopadhyay and Monu Mukherjee and all the actors portray their parts with finesse. Rohit Samanta and Basabdatta(lead pair) ably leads the star cast. Background music is unique and is a breath of fresh air from soaps that shamelessly copy Hans Zimmers' The Dark Knight score or even our very own Hemlock theme. Script is excellently written-to the extent that a second viewing of the same episode will never bore you and is also a reason for its huge popularity. Plot line is very simple and of all of its running time-70% is humorous,while the other parts deal with romance,and some amount of saas-bahu staples(a reason for which I couldn't give it 10). Though it is fun,it has drawn unnecessary plot lines involving local gundas,and the worst part of it is Arjun's mother,who is otherwise kind but who has an unjustified hatred for Krishna,which sometimes makes the tone unnecessarily serious.Some 'tasks' which the lead pair need to perform to show themselves as worthy members of each other's family,sometimes feel drawn out and absurd,but most of the time remains hilarious(especially the Bunty Singh plot line or the Christmas task). Overall a highly enjoyable and fresh soap that refreshes your mind after a hard day-with a dose of humor.
