Whilst Mike continues to impress as an immaculate nanny, Louisa is slightly perturbed by his obsessive neatness. Meanwhile, Robert Campbell, an articulate drifter, is found unconscious on the beach, and proceeds to stalk Ruth, eventually getting into her house to declare his love for her. It turns out that he is a former patient of hers, a diabetic, who has developed an obsession with her. Between them, Ruth and Martin sedate him, but she seriously considers moving.—don @ minifie-1
- Two fisherman find a man unconscious on the shore and carry him to Doc Martin's surgery. He recovers consciousness and identifies himself as Robert Campbell. He leaves the surgery before they can get all of his particulars but he does seem interested in details about Martin's family situation, particularly his aunt Ruth. Al moves in with Morwenna as her lodger. Bert meanwhile has a problem when schoolgirl Becky Wead puts an article in the school newspaper saying she got food poisoning at his restaurant. On the positive side, Bert's old flame Jennifer Cardew returns to Portwenn to work as Sally Tishell's temporary replacement.—garykmcd

One of Louisa's pupils blames an upset stomach on a meal she ate at Bert's restaurant and writes about it in the school magazine. Bert and Al are furious, and they go to see Louisa wanting something to be done.
- Two fishermen wake the Doc and Louisa at the crack of dawn - they found a man collapsed on the beach. Martin examines the mystery man. His name is Robert Campbell. When Robert realises the Doc is Dr Ellingham, he starts to probe Martin about his family. Meanwhile, It's Mike's first day looking after James. Louisa is frosty with him. When she gets to school she can't help but feel uneasy and sneaks back home to check up on Mike. Al rents Morwenna's spare room.
