"Mr Willy Wonka has done it!" - Grandpa Joe
tedwardlee12 April 2024
Deliciously dark and funny! Every "nasty" child is almost the embodiment of their flaw while Charlie, a poor boy who by a miracle finds a golden ticket, is described perfectly for you to imagine a clear picture of the character or place. I also highly recommend buying this book with the Quentin Blake illustrations which, I know I'm saying it for the second time, perfectly matches the description of the character. And of course I have to bring up the main star, the chocolate extraordinary, Willy Wonka! He is magical but the more you think about him, the more sinister and eerie he becomes. Then you see the Oompa-Loompas, the singing men who came from the horrible Loompa-Land! Just like Willy Wonka, they seem enigmatic and magical but when you think about them for a long time, their lyrics to their not-so-cheerful songs show the true side of the Oompa-Loompas. They are not just fun and games! I rate the book 10 out of 10 stars!
