A film-within-a-film from Kawase's "Radiance" (2017). Shigezo Yoshiwara (Tatsuya Kitabayashi), who was once famous for his sand art, is now old and living in a secluded place with his wife Tokie (Misuzu Jinno). Tokie, who had developed dementia, would often sneak out of his girlfriend's house and wander around, but each time, Tokie would forcefully take her back. He and Tokie Shigemi were adamant about staying in this house. However, when he wake up one morning, Tokie was nowhere to be found. Frustrated, Juzo leaves home and heads to the station for the first time in 20 years. I heard that an old woman got on the first train in the morning. Shigezo arrives at a seaside town on a train he hops on. He just keeps walking on the seemingly endless sandy beach in search of Tokie. And what Juzo saw when he climbed the sandy slope.
