At 09:59- Jimmy is wearing two latex gloves but at 10:19- one glove has magically disappeared.
At 45:45- a Caucasian woman spots the aircraft and tweets it but her tweet shows an Asian woman.
Shortly after the small aircraft with the explosives on board becomes "feet wet". a term for leaving land and flying over water, he is only moments away from the carrier. A shot of the carrier shows numerous aircraft on deck. This close to land, the deck should be empty of aircraft, save for some helicopters. When the ship leaves it's home port, the aircraft assigned to it are at their land bases and must fly out to meet it. They don't join the carrier until in open sea. This is so they can increase the speed of the ship, which is done in open waters. They then turn the ship into the wind. Many of the high performance fighters can not get ample takeoff speed with their own power and the catapult alone. They need the additional wind created by the forward motion of the carrier as well. Whenever they are landing, they immediately go to full military power just before their landing gear strikes the deck. This allows it the lift to regain flight should they miss all the trap wires.
While usually a carrier disembarks the airwing before pulling into port it is not completely uncommon for a carrier to pull into home port in the middle of an exercise and keep the airwings aircraft aboard.
Despite the credits calling Barbara Eve Harris "FAA Director Stacy Bergin", since its creation in 1958 the Federal Aviation Administration has been headed by an administrator, not a director.
McGee says that Keith has a "civilian" pilot's license. There is no such distinction. A pilot's license can be private (you can not charge for flights above the operating cost for the flight) Commercial (you can charge money for your service) or "Air Transport" you can fly for the airlines.
You are then "rated" for different types of plane. Single engine, multi-engine, simple, complex, sea or land.
The license issued to military pilots is the same as that issued to civilian pilots.
The CIWS would be the weapons system to use. Not missiles. Not fliers.
The pilot is shown with a dead man's switch taped to his hand. This would not be possible as a pilot needs both hands to fly the plane. One on the stick or yoke the other for the throttle.
Most planes have some type of throttle lock or friction lever that allows the throttle to be held in place without the need to keep your hand on it.
When we are shown the shot of the USS Franklin, the aircraft carrier has several F-14 Tomcats on the deck. The F-14s were retired several years ago.
Commercial aircraft are required to display their registration number on the fuselage. Instead of looking for a generic airplane it would be helpful to look for an aircraft with a particular registration number.
Abby mispronounces dinitrobutane as 'dini-trobu-tane' rather than 'di-nitro-butane'.
While in MTAC, the Admiral tells someone off screen to notify the carrier about the small plane approaching. First off, the plane was in visual range of the carrier and would have appeared on the ship's radar well before that. Second, the fighters had already buzzed the plane and would have reported this to the carrier, so the carrier would have been well aware of the threat. Someone with the experience of an Admiral would have been aware of these circumstances and not made such an uninformed directive.
