Stormy Daniels Doc Finds UK Buyer
The Stormy Daniels doc from the producers of Britney vs Spears and Judd Apatow has landed a UK buyer. Paramount-owned Channel 5 has secured exclusive first-run rights to air Peacock’s Stormy, telling the in-her-own-words story of the woman currently embroiled in a legal tussle with former Potus Donald Trump. Produced by Sarah Gibson and Erin Lee Carr, Stormy offers an intimate look behind the scenes as the former adult movie star navigates her roles as a mother, an artist and an advocate striving to reinvent herself while contending with the explosive revelation that shook her life five years ago. Apatow is exec producing alongside Emmy Award-winning Sara Bernstein and Meredith Kaulfers from Imagine Documentaries. Daniels is currently involved in a very public legal battle with Trump over alleged hush money paid for her silence about an alleged sexual liaison years earlier. “Bringing...

Barrett Blade, the husband of Stormy Daniels, revealed that the couple would likely leave the U.S. if Donald Trump is acquitted in his New York hush money trial.
Blade made this declaration during an interview with CNN anchor Erin Burnett on Erin Burnett OutFront.
“Stormy spent more than seven hours on the stand,” Burnett noted. “She was there for over two days. Obviously, it’s the first time she was face to face with Trump since 2007. I was in that room. They’re only ten or 15 feet apart for those hours and hours. How does she feel now that her testimony is behind her?”
“I mean, I don’t think she feels any differently,” Blade responded. “Maybe a little relieved to not have to be stressed about going in there. But I think she feels the same way she always has felt about it.”

Former adult film actress Stormy Daniels threw a jab at former President Donald Trump following her hush money testimony in New York this week. Trump’s legal team attempted to amend Trump’s gag order, which the judge ruled that he had violated 10 times, so the former president could respond to Daniels’ testimony.
His legal team claimed that since she had already testified, she could not be intimidated, which could’ve impacted the trial had she not already been on the stand. Trump’s legal team also said Daniels revealed too much information about her alleged affair with Trump. Judge Juan Merchan denied their attempt to declare a mistrial.
Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, explained the alleged affair in great detail on the stand. Daniels gave graphic details of her and Trump’s encounters, including the clothing they wore, lack of condom use and sexual position. The explicit...

While we absolutely love scripted movies and television here at /Film, we also have a deep appreciation for documentaries — series and films alike. With so many streaming services available, it feels like there are more documentaries out there than ever before, which can make finding the right one to watch a bit intimidating. Thankfully, I'm here to help recommend some of the best docs streaming this May, from remastered versions of music classics like "Stop Making Sense" and "Let it Be" to new docs with a fresh perspective, like the shocking "Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV" and "Stormy." There has honestly been a massive influx of showbiz docs lately, with a couple more great ones dropping fresh this month. The entertainment industry has always been rife with controversy and chaos, so there's sure to be no end of these docs anytime soon. Still, this latest crop is a real doozy.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) said that Donald Trump’s denial of a sexual relationship with adult film actress Stormy Daniels is comical.
“I think everybody has made their own assessment of President Trump’s character. And so far as I know, you don’t pay someone $130,000 not to have sex with you,” Romney wryly remarked to CNN.
Michael Cohen, Trump’s personal attorney, clandestinely paid Daniels $130,000 by mortgaging his home ten days before the 2016 election to ensure her silence on the alleged liaison with Trump. Subsequently, Daniels divulged to 60 Minutes the details of her affair with Trump in a hotel suite after they met at a celebrity golf tournament held at Lake Tahoe in 2006.
Trump later denied any sexual involvement with Daniels, deployed his legal team to issue threats of litigation and cited violations of a confidentiality agreement. Nevertheless, Romney, a prominent critic of Trump, who himself contended as the...

Former federal prosecutor Andrew Weissmann stated that former President Donald Trump could face prison time if he ends up being convicted of falsifying business records in his New York hush money trial.
Trump has been charged with 34 felony counts in connection to with a scheme to falsify business records to cover up hush money payments made to conceal an alleged affair with adult film actress Stormy Daniels during the closing weeks of the 2016 presidential campaign. This case is going to trial on April 15.
“He could be looking at the jail,” Weissmann told CNN host Wolf Blitzer. “This is one where [Judge Juan Merchan]—I think—is going to be looking at the rule of law to see how other people were treated, other people with a similar criminal background. I think this is an area where Donald Trump’s pretrial behavior is going to be relevant.”

When we meet Tom Ripley at the start of Steve Zallian’s eight part adaptation of Patricia Highsmith’s celebrated novel The Talented Mr Ripley, he’s not the fresh faced chancer of Matt Damon’s Ripley in Anthony Minghella’s 1999 version. Andrew Scott’s Ripley is a grifter in his 40s, a jaded low-level fraudster living in New York. He’s not even especially talented – or not at this point anyway.
An encounter with shipping magnate Herbert Greenleaf sees Ripley heading to Italy on Greenleaf’s dime to lure back his errant son Dickie (Johnny Flynn) who is living in the idyllic city of Atrani on the Amalfi coast. Here Dickie paints, hangs out on his yacht, flirts with the locals and lives in a beautiful home with his girlfriend Marge (Dakota Fanning). Ripley insinuates himself into Dickie’s life but soon grows obsessed, not just with the lifestyle but with Dickie himself.

Stormy, the newly released documentary on former adult film star Stormy Daniels, sheds light on her life after an alleged sexual encounter with former president Donald Trump.
In October 2016, Daniels was approached by Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen with $130,000 to stay quiet about an alleged affair with Trump in 2006. Trump’s team has denied the existence of any affair.
In 2018, Daniels filed a lawsuit against Trump and cited the numerous threats she faced from his team. In the documentary, Daniels talks about how she tried to keep her daughter away from the situation. Previously Daniels said she faced death threats from Trump supporters after the hush money incident.
Journalist Denver Nicks who had been working closely with Daniels for the documentary said Daniels was convinced her life was going to end.
“When I met Stormy, she was convinced that she was living in the last weeks of months of her life.

The South by Southwest debut of “Stormy” was not your typical Imagine Documentaries premiere.
About adult film star Stormy Daniels’ alleged affair with former President Donald Trump, the film drew an eclectic crowd that included porn stars and “Muppet” director-producer Frank Oz, who sat in the same row as Daniels and her entourage made up mainly of buff bodyguards. Dogs sniffed Austin’s Stateside Theater prior to the screening. After it unspooled, Daniels spoke to the SXSW audience, revealing that she first met “Stormy” exec producer Judd Apatow when he hired her for a small part in his 2005 film “40 Year-Old Virgin.” When she was a no-show due to a death in the family, Apatow sent her flowers and rescheduled her shoot date.
“I thought he would replace me,” Daniels, who would go on to appear in “Knocked Up” for the filmmaker, told the crowd, with director Sarah Gibson standing nearby.

It’s been over five years since Stephanie Clifford, a.k.a. Stormy Daniels, rocked the political world. The former adult film star revealed in 2018 she’d been paid $130,000 in hush money by Donald Trump’s attorney-fixer Michael Cohen to silence her story about a sexual encounter with the then-candidate ahead of the 2016 presidential election. However, even though she’s no longer atop every headline in every newspaper, the story is far from over for Daniels. In Peacock’s new documentary Stormy, the actress-turned-director details just how much of a toll her experience in the spotlight and standing up to a sitting president has taken on her — and how much of that bill is still due. Here’s a look at some of the major revelations that can be found in the documentary, which hit the streamer on Monday. This week is Huge. How huge, you might be asking? Well, we’ve got an ambitious sci-fi epic from the “Game of Thrones” team hitting Netflix (“3 Body Problem”); a “Road House” remake starring Jake Gyllenhaal on Prime Video; and the return of the ‘90s era “X-Men” animated series coming to Disney+. And that’s just scratching the surface – also in the offerings are a documentary on Stormy Daniels (“Stormy”), a dramatization of the Yorkshire Ripper case (“The Long Shadow”) and Regina King playing Shirley Chisholm (“Shirley”). Like we said: Huge.

A sympathetic portrait of a porn star whose life was turned upside down by the President of the United States, Sarah Gibson’s “Stormy” might not be confused for any of the other movies that its subject has starred in before, but it shares a few key things in common with virtually all of them: It’s poorly shot, severely lacking in character detail, and much longer than most people would ever need it to be. There’s self-evident value in Gibson’s efforts to spotlight the human consequences of tabloid scandal, and her film illustrates America’s culture of misogyny with the same conviction that it assails the financially punitive nature of our country’s legal system. And yet, the more this bland and incurious Peacock Original argues that Stormy has been done wrong by the media, the more convincingly it makes the case that she deserved a better documentary.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains some details of Netflix’s 3 Body Problem, set for an eight-episode launch on the streamer March 21.
“Why should I get bent out of shape about what the world might look like 400 years from now,” physics research assistant Saul Durand (Jovan Adepo) says flippantly in Netflix’s 3 Body Problem. “I have no control over that.”
The sentiment of those words landed hard on me, because that’s almost exactly how I felt about the bloated and often remarkably boring big-budget sci-fi series from Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, and True Blood producer Alexander Woo.

Stormy Daniels cried and laughed during the SXSW world premiere of “Stormy,” a Peacock documentary about the porn star who made national headlines when it was revealed that Donald Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen paid her $130,000 to keep quiet about her alleged affair with the former president.

Stormy Daniels skipped the red carpet Friday but took the stage briefly after a screening of documentary Stormy, which had its SXSW premiere on the festival’s opening night. She was emotional, often wiping away tears, as she embraced director Sarah Gibson and talked about how important the film is to her. But she displayed her trademark defiance too, closing with a parting shot — “And f*ck Trump.”
“Thank you Sarah for doing this with me and telling such a great story,” she said. “As a filmmaker, your transitions were amazing. And you didn’t use too many shots that made me look fat. So thank you.”

“Where’s the outrage?” That’s the theme that underlies just about every news report on Donald Trump, and nearly every documentary that spins around him. That would include “Stormy,” a reasonably absorbing film that presents the Stormy Daniels saga from Daniels’ point-of-view, revealing her to be a compelling and highly conflicted figure. The movie, which premiered tonight at SXSW (it drops on Peacock on March 18), replays the scandal with a kind of breathless, furrowed-brow, tabloid-meets-serious-news propulsive documentary “excitement.” It casts Stormy Daniels as a liberal folk hero, a soldier in the culture wars, and a post-MeToo tabloid-ready figurehead of the resistance. The whole intention of the movie is to stoke the outrage.
Yet somehow, the outrage is never quite there — or, rather, it’s there in a film like “Stormy,” but it’s never where it’s supposed to be, which is in the hearts of the people who...

The saga of Stormy Daniels vs. Donald Trump probably seems like a story you already know. Yet the new documentary Stormy intimately delves into the actress-director’s turbulent battle with the former president and brings to life her day-to-day reality behind all those sensationalized headlines. It shines a light on Daniels’ fateful meeting with Trump in 2006, inadvertently becoming a scandalized household name in 2018, the downfall of her legal champion turned fraudster attorney Michael Avenatti, her financially devastating defamation case and more.
Below, the film’s director and producer Sarah Gibson (Orgasm Inc: The Story of OneTaste) and producer Erin Lee Carr (Britney vs Spears) discuss their film (trailer below) which is set to have its world premiere at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival on Friday. Together, they make a case for Daniels’ story being more relevant than ever.

You can tell it’s spring.
In Vermont, sap flows out of maple trees. But for Hollywood, movies go off like fireworks in the Lone Star State at SXSW.
The third edition of the Austin festival since coming out of the pandemic — and dual strikes — hasn’t lost its shine: When it comes to creating an “it” movie for the spring or summer, SXSW remains a helluva tastemaker event to stoke the 18-34 crowd.
It’s where A Quiet Place triggered its first screams in 2018 before morphing into a $638M franchise (the third film is due this summer), and it’s where Everything Everywhere All at Once in 2022 began its yearlong journey to Oscars 2023, taking home several trophies including Best Picture — a first for any SXSW world premiere.

However, the one logistical headache here for the second year in a row is having the...

Peacock has released the first trailer for its Stormy Daniels documentary, which reveals plenty of never-before-seen footage showing Daniels’ roller-coaster life amid her legal sparring with Donald Trump.
“Every time I stood up I got kicked down even harder, and I hit rock bottom,” Daniels says in the trailer below, which includes Daniels reading a death threat on her phone. “I just wanted to stand up for myself. I won’t give up because I’m telling the truth.”
The footage also includes Daniels reacting in real time to discovering her celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti was stealing from her book proceeds. “Michael Avenatti betrayed me in every way,” she declares. “You’re in prison, bitch!”
The project, Stormy, is directed and produced by Emmy nominee Sarah Gibson (Orgasm Inc: The Story of OneTaste) and executive produced by Erin Lee Carr (Britney vs Spears), along with Judd Apatow, Sara Bernstein and Meredith Kaulfers.

Stormy Daniels is out of fucks to give and ready to discuss it all — Donald Trump, Michael Avenatti, the media, and much more — in the new trailer for Stormy, a documentary premiering March 18 on Peacock.
Directed by Sarah Gibson, the film will examine Daniels’ personal and public life as she aims to reinvent herself after five years of chaos. Daniels famously became a central figure in American politics after it came out that Donald Trump allegedly directed a hush money payment to her before the 2016 election to cover up an allegation of a past affair.
