Nobody knew The WB was releasing one of the best television series ever on March 10, 1997.
Yet on that date, on a network no longer in existence, Buffy the Vampire Slayer the series was born, changing genre television forever.
We're celebrating with some of our personal favorite episodes and why they've stuck with us.

1. Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 2 Episodes 13 & 14, "Surprise" & "Innocence" Confession Time: I only watched the first three seasons of Buffy during its original run. We didn't have cable, and at that point, the show switched stations to one that came in fuzzy when it came in at all. I've watched the complete series several times since (Thanks, Netflix!), but I still connect so much to the two episodes from Season 2, "Surprise" & "Innocence. Those two episodes had such a range of emotion for Buffy, something that tween me could easily relate to (if not the reasons...

Life rarely allows anyone to resolve their conflicts without bittersweet consequences, no matter how heroic their actions are in battle.
Cno Captain Tom Chandler is no exception, despite his bravest efforts to protect the world's remaining survivors, from both natural causes and each other.
The Chief of Naval Operations proved yet again what a stunning leader he is throughout The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 13.
During the third season finale of TNT's hit post-apocalyptic series, it was satisfying to watch Tom be the person who finally was able to stop Allison's reign of terror at home in America.
When The Last Ship Season 1 launched in summer 2014, the former Nathan James captain proved he was the world's savior as he fought to help find and spread the cure for the virus.
So it was only natural that he would be the person who secured America's revival in Season 3's final episode,...

Watching the destruction of the foundation of one of the most powerful countries in the world is a painful experience for all of its citizens. The process is especially devastating for those who have fought to uphold the traditions that have made their home so respected and cherished.
As courageous leaders take a stance against their surprising new foes, it's thrilling to witness them forge partnerships with equally determined, but also unexpected, allies who hold drastically different morals than they do.
Further building upon the revelations of the leaders' motives and relationships from the past couple of episodes, The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 11 has also proved that the well-intentioned American officials are being manipulated by their counterparts.
Still determined to protect his home country, Tom bravely led the crew aboard the Nathan James in one last gallant battle against President Peng in Japan. Finally being able to defeat his most...

Easing the concerns of worried citizens who fear for the security and safety of their country is a high priority for many government officials who wish to stabilize society. So it comes as a complete shock when well-intentioned leaders uncover their boss and colleagues' deceit – their agenda is to cause more civil unrest.
Making a drastic change in the character and story arcs from the previous episodes of this season, the fast-paced turn of events in The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 10 threatened the futures of the White House staff.
While the American leaders stationed in both St. Louis and aboard the Nathan James are still focused on their foreign enemies, notably President Peng, the officials are finally realizing that they can't truly trust each other.
Tom maintained his courage and pride in defending not only himself, but his fellow Nathan James officers, this time against Joseph's unwarranted suspicions. But the...

Those disclosures have helped make the episode one of the best entries in the post-apocalyptic series.
As Tom, Sasha, Wolf and Danny explore the Asian island they believe Peng used to create the missiles that are carrying the anti-cure, it's satisfying to finally see the proof that the Chinese leader really is working to solely protect his country.

The untimely death of a seemingly heroic leader like President Michener is a tragedy that was supposed to bring not only the mourners in American together, but all of those who are grieving around the world.
But the news unfortunately proved once again how supposed allies are willing to quickly betray each other in times of despair.
Kara is unsurprisingly the main White House staff member who's having trouble accepting President Michener's death on The Last Ship Season 3 Episode 8. As Tom's aide in the White House, Kara was the person who made the harrowing discovery of the commander-in-chief's suicide.
In the change of power that follows President Michener's death, Kara is horrified that some of his supporters, especially Allison, want to overturn his policies. After the Chief of Staff admits to Kara that she had a personal relationship with him, Allison's bitterness over his suicide leads her to challenge his programs.

An appearance from Nicolas Cage in a good film now seems as common as a unicorn sighting or finding a Freddo that’s still only 10p. Whilst we still await the other two occurrences with great anticipation, Deadline have revealed that Cage will be making a potential comeback, courtesy of the Edward Snowden biopic from Oliver Stone which stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
Based on Luke Harding’s book ’The Snowden Files: The Inside Story of the World’s Most Wanted Man’ and ‘Time of the Octopus’ by Anatoly Kucherena, Snowden will tell the story of the U.S. whistleblower who sought asylum in Russia after leaking classified files from the Nsa to the media in 2013. Levitt is set to star as the titular secret-spiller, whilst Cage is down to play a former U.S. Intelligence official.

There are plenty of films about the troubles and triumphs of love in the '80s teen movie canon. Say Anything taught dudes about the importance of grand romantic gestures. Sixteen Candles showed ladies that just being yourself is more than enough to land Jake Ryan. Ferris Bueller's Day Off taught both genders that life moves pretty fast, and we should all stop and look around with our best friends and significant others once in a while. But when we think about cinematic tales of teen romance, The Breakfast Club usually isn't the first movie to come to mind. Well,...

The popular nursery rhyme says, "first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes a baby in a baby carriage," but where does career fall into that mix? For many modern women, work precedes the other life events. Consider this week's cover star Angelina Jolie, a successful actress prior to falling for Brad Pitt, building their family and then tying the knot much later. And the late, great Joan Rivers's life's work paved the way for female comedians. This week our staff is reading fiction about other hard-working gals. And these protagonists are all trying to find that elusive work-life balance.

By now you should have been able to finish FX’s amazing mini-series, Fargo, a brilliant spin-off story from the award-winning film by Joel and Ethan Coen, written by Noah Hawley. It took home multiple honors in the 4th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Mini-Series, as well as Best Actor and Supporting Actress Billy Bob Thornton, and Allison Tollman. We recently had a chance to speak with Thornton, Tollman and Colin Hanks about the final few episodes, so please beware of spoilers.
The central relationship between Allison Tollman’s Molly Solverson and Colin Hanks’ Gus Grimly tethered Fargo on a relatable scale. Even though we were only given two episodes of their marriage in the year jump forward, their open honesty with each other rang true. We knew more information than them, which allowed the hairs to raise on our necks whenever they were in trouble because we knew...
