You never know what battles are being fought inside

Warning: Spoilers
You know something is going to happen but the directions and variables that come into the story made the journey unpredictable which I enjoyed.

I appreciated that the backstories for the characters were relevant and complicated (as life usually is) and not just to fill up the time which I think speaks to the depth of the story.

I thought the cops/detectives were great comedic relief for the dark tempo that was established and made it feel relatable.

I'm not much of a film person but I found the themes in the film easy to consume ( I probably missed half of them ) which meant I could enjoy the film without having to draw a mind map of what was going on.

Emotionally complex

In this short film of only 25 minutes, we delve into the themes of love and betrayal, family violence, and alcoholism to a point where we can all relate. It is not so much about finding who killed the younger brother but more about what this death engenders to the family taking us to the deep and complex emotions of each of the characters.

Beautifully filmed, we wouldn't know that this is a first movie for the young director. Shots take us to intimate moments with the characters and leave us wondering whose fault it is really.

In this short film, we can definately recognise the South African culture by its actors and its themes which makes it undeniably true to its origins.
