In February 2013, Dreamworks Animation Television teamed with Netflix on its first-ever children’s and family series, Turbo Fast. Just four months later, the studio and streamer would unveil a multiyear content deal — 300 hours of exclusive original, first-run content.
The pact was the official beginning of the television animation studio and at that time, the largest content deal in the streamer’s history. One of the most significant signs of the rise and permanence of the streaming era, the deal heralded a new age for the kids and family content industry.
Dreamworks Animation TV and current Dwa president Margie Cohn’s team would spend the next decade steering the studio through that and an NBC Universal acquisition, producing more than 2,100 episodes of animated programming across 43 series and partnering with Netflix, Apple TV+, Hulu, Peacock, Amazon and free-to-air broadcasters around the globe.

New Girl is moving out of Netflix this April.
After nearly 10 years on the platform, all seven seasons of the Zooey Deschanel-starring Fox comedy are exiting the platform on Sunday.
But fans will soon be able to reunite with Deschanel’s Jess, Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), Winston (Lamorne Morris) and more on April 17 when New Girl starts streaming on Hulu and Peacock.
Later in the month, Netflix subscribers will lose access to Alex Gibney’s Julian Assange documentary We Steal Secrets: The Story of WikiLeaks and Bill Nye: Science Guy, which follows the beloved children’s television host as he takes on the anti-science movement, including those who deny climate change and evolution.
By the end of the month, several movies will leave Netflix, including Leap Year, Road to Perdition and action films Den of Thieves and Empire State.

Now in its 15th year, the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival has offered thousands of filmmakers their chance to showcase the hard work they’ve placed on their passions. Whether it’s any first time writer or director, to the iconic, multi-award winning actor and producer, Tribeca has given these people a venue for their work, and it has blessed the film community in terms of releasing their film, as well as having audiences to watch it.
Kicking off our Tribeca coverage is Nerdland, a film written by Andrew Kevin Walker and starring Paul Rudd, Patton Oswalt, and Reid Scott. Directed by Chris Prynoski, whose previous works include other animated series such as Turbo Fast or Moonbeam City, the film stars Rudd and Oswalt as John and Elliot, two up and coming late-twenties year-olds who realize their passions of yesteryear are dead and they’ve done nothing with their lives. Turbo Fast, the animated spin-off from the theatrical film CG film Turbo, has seen its second season premiere on Netflix, which means that all of it is available for immediate streaming. Before checking out the show and Kevin's episode, however, see what he has to say on the connection between Batman and The Stinger and so much more. Interview Conducted by and © Edward Gross Voices From Krypton: So in watching The Stinger, the impression I get is that he would be Batman…..if Batman banged his head really, really hard. Kevin Conroy: [laughs] That's a very good way of putting it. That's a very good way of putting it. Isn't this character great? You take everything I'm not allowed to do as Batman, you know? Batman is humble. Batman doesn't want any attention. Batman just does everything and wants to disappear. This guy is arrogant. He's cocky. He's a narcissist.

Netflix is adding to its roster of children’s programming with the upcoming Shrek-inspired show The Adventures of Puss in Boots. The new original series created in conjunction with DreamWorks Animation will premiere on the streaming video platform on January 16, 2015.
Netflix will release the series in batches, much like the Svod service and DreamWorks did with some of their other recent animated shows like All Hail King Julien and Turbo Fast. The first five episodes of The Adventures of Puss in Boots will be available on January 16 to all Netflix subscribers in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, France, Ireland, the UK, the Nordic isles, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. More of the series’ 22-minute episodes will be released throughout 2015.
The Adventures of Puss in Boots will follow the beloved orange-coated feline (voiced by Eric Bauza from The Book of Life) as he explores the magical, prosperous city of San Lorenzo.

Appearing at a media conference earlier this week, Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos says the company is aiming to increase the number of its 'Netflix Originals' series to the point that a new original show or season will premiere every two and a half weeks.
That would equate to around twenty seasons worth of series per year, effectively doubling this year's output. To put it in perspective, this year the Svod service had eight original series airing a fresh season of episodes - "House of Cards," "Orange is the New Black," "Hemlock Grove," "The Killing," "Trailer Park Boys," "Lilyhammer," "Marco Polo," "Bojack Horseman" - along with three kids shows "VeggieTales in the House," "All Hail King Julien" and "Turbo Fast".
Their pace of releasing shows is increasing as well so this goal could be reached sooner than expected. Currently on the slate for 2015 are: "The Adventures of Puss in Boots,...

Netflix streaming is upping the ante this December, adding enough high-profile TV shows and movies to more than make up for last month's lackluster offerings.
On the movie side, highlights include Will Ferrell and gang in "Anchorman 2," the Heath Ledger-starring "A Knight's Tale," Cameron Crowe classic "Almost Famous," Oscar-winning "American Beauty," and horror hits "Oculus" and "Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones." Oh, and let's not forget '80s classic "Troop Beverly Hills," '90s cult favorite "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion," or Leonardo DiCaprio in "The Wolf of Wall Street."
And there's plenty to love about what's coming on the TV front: "American Horror Story: Coven" finally gets its day on Netflix, "Sharknado 2" storms its way to streaming, and Brit hit "Broadchurch" finally lands stateside. Oh, and December sees the premiere of the hotly anticipated Netflix Original series "Marco Polo" on the 12th.

We all know that the best part of the Madagascar films is King Julien, and now he is finally getting the chance to take center stage as his own series hits on Netflix. All Hail King Julien, which apparently takes place before the events of the films, is just centered on life in King Julien’s court, and the wild antics that must take place there.
Along with the familiar voices you know, there are plenty of new characters joining the show, including Henry Winkler as King Julien’s predecessor… Uncle King Julien.
This one is going to kick off with the first five episodes, with more on the way, and it is going to be a lot of fun.

Netflix loves breaking entertainment industry standards, even its own. The streaming video-on-demand service announced it will release the first five episodes of DreamWorks Animation’s (Dwa) All Hail King Julien on December 19, 2014, with additional episodes released in 2015. The staggered release differs from Netflix’s typical practice of producing original programming and debuting it all in one binge-watchable fell swoop. However, Netflix and Dwa have noted animation takes longer to create, so subsequent release dates for new material is simply part of the equation. The two companies previously released Turbo Fast in the same manner. All Hail King Julien will center around the popular lemur from Dwa’s Madagascar franchise, and feature the voice talents of Henry Winkler, Danny Jacobs, Andy Richter, Kevin Michael Richardson, and India de Beaufort. The series will be available to Netflix subscribers in most parts of the world covered by the agreement Dwa and Netflix made...

We recently heard that Netflix was planning on resuscitating The Magic School Bus for a new set of modernized episodes, and now news has broken that the streaming giant is further expanding its programming for children with a new original series by the name of Dinotrux.
Based on Chris Gall’s award-winning book series, Dinotrux follows “the adventures of two unlikely best friends as they navigate the mechanical domain ruled by creatures including Tyrannosaurus Trux, Scraptors and Tow-a-constrictors.” It’s set to feature hybrid dinosaur-construction characters who will work to build with and battle one another for three seasons.

Summer is the best time for nostalgia screenings with friends. This June, Netflix will be adding a number of iconic films to their streaming catalogue that are perfect for watching on a warm evening -- so start planning now! "Apocalypse Now," "Annie Hall," "Carrie," "Wayne's World," "Ever After: A Cinderella Story" and "Harriet the Spy," are just a few of the additions Netflix is making beginning on June 1st. Sure, the latter three titles may not share the illustrious reputation of the former three. But when it comes to nostalgia, let's face it, standards are overrated. TelevisionComedy Bang Bang! Usually June is associated with the first real month of summer -- a time to go out and frolic through the wilderness like a snowman that doesn't know any better. But it also gets really, really hot, which has people retreating to their local multiplex or, even better, their luxuriously air-conditioned living rooms. With that in mind, take a look at the television shows and movies that will be available on Netflix's steaming service come June (via Vulture).
Thought the snail-who-dreamed-of-being-a-racecar saga ended with last summer's DreamWorks Animated joint "Turbo?" Think again. Apparently there's a television spin-off. And you can watch it on Netflix. We also have to give it up for a pair of wonderful sequels that are going to be on in June: the obviously-shot-in-Canada-even-though-it's-set-in-New York robo-epic "Short Circuit 2" (a favorite since childhood) and the far darker and more sinister "Wolf Creek 2," a sequel to the...

Los Angeles, March 13, 2014 – King Julien has officially decreed that Turbo and his Fast Action Stunt Team cannot hog all the extreme fun. In an effort to appease the lively lemur from Madagascar, DreamWorks Animation and Netflix are announcing three new original series to debut on the world’s leading Internet television network in late 2014: King Julien (in his very own show, of course), Puss in Boots (the legendary cat has nine lives worth of stories to be told) and Veggie Tales in the House (new recipes for faith-based values as Bob and Larry venture off the counter top). Not to be outdone, Turbo and the team are revving their engines for all new episodes from the first season of Turbo Fast, available for streaming on April 4. Netflix’s first original series for kids launched Christmas last year and became an instant favorite across the world. Families in the U.

Streaming companies cannot exist on raunchy bisexual prison dramedies and amoral D.C. political tales alone -- Netflix will premiere its first-ever original series for kids on Christmas Eve. December 24th at 12:01am Pt will see the launch of "Turbo: F.A.S.T.," the company's inaugural children's show and the first that will be released throughout the year rather than all at once. "Turbo: F.A.S.T." comes from DreamWorks Animation and is a sequel to this past summer's 3D animated film about a snail who races or something, and will launch with the first five episodes in all Netflix territories, with new installments premiering throughout the year. Reid Scott from "Veep" will voice Turbo, taking over for Ryan Reynolds, who voiced the character on the big screen, while Ken Jeong will reprise his role from the film as manicurist-turned-home shopping icon Kim Ly. 'We are excited to be working with the gifted...
