After six seasons, 75 episodes and countless beatdowns, Animal Kingdom comes roaring to a close with Sunday’s series finale. And although regular viewers may think that they’re prepared for the Codys’ last hurrah, executive producer Daniele Nathanson advises them to think again.
The ominously titled “Fubar,” which the showrunner also wrote, is “explosive… emotional… unpredictable,” she tells TVLine, hastening to remind us that “anything can happen in the Animal Kingdom. If you’ve watched all six seasons of the show, you know that major characters meet with major endings.” (Ellen Barkin’s Smurf and Scott Speedman’s Baz would no doubt agree.

Buenos Aires — For much of this century, Argentina’s Axel Kuschevatzky led a double life.
On one hand, he served as a hugely hard-working movie producer for Telefe, then Telefonica Studios, then Viacom Intl. Media Networks, bringing their much-needed finance and promotion clout to some of the finest South American titles of the last decade: “The Secret in Their Eyes,” “Wild Tales,” “The Clan” and “Neruda.”
On the other, he was a glamorous Academy Awards presenter for TNT, a journalist, radio commentator, occasional screenwriter and even actor, channeling his huge passion and knowledge of film and beyond -Billy Wilder, jazz.
Now he’s cut loose. Kuschevatzky’s launch of independent film production company Infinity Hill, with producers Phin Glynn (“Waiting for Anya”) and Cindy Teperman (“Animal”), was the biggest news at least partially related to Latin America at November’s Afm.

Muppet Babies, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Thor: Love and Thunder, and more in today's daily Link Tank!
Here's three reasons on why you should expect a Mace Windu comeback in The Rise of Skywalker.
"In Attack of the Clones, Jedi Master Mace Windu said “This party’s over!” but what if the Samuel L. Jackson party is just getting started? Could Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker pull the most unexpected cameo of all time and bring Mace Windu back just in time to close out the saga? It might be a long shot — or the fan version of wishful thinking — but talking about Jackson returning to Star Wars at the 11th hour isn’t as crazy as it sounds. Here are three reasons to expect a Mace Windu appearance in Episode IX."

For the third week of February, Scream Factory is delivering a double dose of terror in their releases of the recent indie horror flick Animal as well as the 1989 cult classic adaptation of The Phantom of the Opera starring Robert Englund and Jill Schoelen.
Magnolia is also bringing us V/H/S: Viral, the latest edition of their popular horror anthology series, home on Blu-ray, DVD and VHS (which is awesome!), and indie genre fans have tons of new titles to look forward to. And for you Game of Thrones fans out there, season four is making its way on Blu and DVD this Tuesday too.

I’m not saying that Animal is a “ripoff” of Feast. It’s hard to make an original monster movie these days. Everything has already been done. What I am saying though, is that whether or not the creative team behind the new Chiller TV film Animal admit it or not, they owe most of what they put together to Gulager and his hilariously claustrophobic monster movie from 2005. Animal is another one of those films, made specifically for Chiller TV, even though it is aired censored. A few months later, it is released onto Blu-ray, through some kind of deal that is currently in place between Chiller and Scream Factory. The story takes place, mostly within a single location(sound familiar?), while a crazy Feast-looking creature tries desperately to huff and puff and tear the house down so he can eat a bunch of people, including Joey Lauren Adams. It all sounds pretty derivative,...

The most important nominations of the awards season have been announced.
Transformers: Age of Extinction, Adam Sandler's Blended, and Kirk Cameron are the front-runners for this year's "prestigious" Golden Raspberry Awards!
News: Kim K. Wins Razzie For Worst Actress
The 35th annual Razzies, which recognize some of Hollywood's "Worst Achievements in Film," are going to be a tight race this year. Transformers: Age of Extinction leads with seven nominations, but the film is going up against some other truly hated entries such as The Legend of Hercules, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas.
Some of the more interesting nominations, however, come in the acting categories, where Blended star Adam Sandler and Tammy star Melissa McCarthy are both nominated for Worst Actor and Worst Actress respectively – despite having just won People's Choice Awards on Jan. 7.
Even more surprising is the Worst Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel nomination for the musical Annie, which was also...

We here at Sound On Sight believe horror transcends explicit gore, jump scares or supernatural content, which is why you’ll soon notice our list ranges from independent art films to psychological thrillers to parodies, satire and more. Surprisingly, vampires lead the pack this year, along with found footage flicks, but there are a few comedies, one remake and even some strange love stories as well.
Every other year, I’ve published the list of best horror films based solely on my picks, but this year, Sound On Sight editor Justine Smith and Sos contributor Felix Vasquez Jr. also participated. Since we couldn’t agree with what is the best horror film of 2014, we decided to publish the list in alphabetical order. That said, here are our individual picks:

That's What I'm Talking About
Tyler Hoechlin ("Teen Wolf"), Blake Jenner ("Glee") and Wyatt Russell ("22 Jump Street") have reportedly been offered the leading roles in "Boyhood" director Richard Linklater's baseball-themed next film "That’s What I’m Talking About".
Set in 1980, the story follows a college freshman who moves into the baseball house at his college and experiences a fraternity like lifestyle with his hard partying teammates. Each of the trio has an offer to play one of the lead baseball players in the film which is said to have the same tone as Linklater's classic "Dazed and Confused". [Source: Deadline]

As far as creature features go, Animal is about as generically crafted as they come, but that might be serviceable enough for some of you (no judgement!). A group of hikers venture into a heavily wooded area and get caught stumbling around after sundown, some type of murderous creature pursues on foot, and a playful excursion turns into a fight for survival. People die, blood is spilled, and a monster roams free – but Chiller’s animalistic horror movie doesn’t do a darn thing to differentiate itself. Instead of finding myself cringing in fear at the very sight of these monsters, my first thought was “Oh look, they copied the Feast monsters!” I’ll admit, Animal is quick and relatively painless, but with a presence so duplicative, is all the running, screaming, and dying actually worthwhile?

In some respects, Animal is a cut above the usual Chiller fare. It boasts a much better pedigree. It’s executive produced by Drew Barrymore and her Flower Films production company. The creature design and effects are by Gary Tunnicliffe (Scream 4, My Bloody Valentine, Feast). The music is by tomandandy (The Hills Have Eyes, The Strangers). The cast is full of familiar faces including Jeremy Sumpter (Frailty, Excision), Joey Lauren Adams (Chasing Amy), and Amaury Nolasco (2 Fast 2 Furious, Transformers). Unfortunately, in just about every other way it’s business as usual.

"Horror is my favorite genre," the rapper-actress told me exclusively during a pre-wedding break to promote her horror movie debut, Animal (out in theaters and available on VOD tomorrow, June 17). Chiller will air the film - produced by Drew Barrymore's production outfit - on June 17th. As for that poster, I'm not sure what I'm looking at, but that's a lot of teeth. This is the first teaser trailer to the Drew Barrymore produced horror thriller Animal. It basically looks like every other horror film that takes place in the woods. The trailer features a group of friends running through the forest being chased by an unseen creature. No offense, but something like this can be shot by an amateur filmmaker. The trailer gives me nothing to spark my interest or excitement. It's a something we've seen a thousand times before.
