approaching the theoretically "perfect" episode
A_Different_Drummer23 October 2015
Don't know which amazes me more -- that the production team totally nailed the perfect combination of writing, action, direction, scoring ... to produce one of the best episodes ever -- an episode you actually don't want to end -- or that, two years after airing, this humble scribe is the only one to notice...? From the opening scene to the big "reveal" at the end ... perfect.

The larger and smaller arc come together like KISMET. If you would have told me that a mock (moot) case about owning a cat could be so entertaining, I would have laughed. But this writing team is a miracle worker.

Just the right mix of light humor and gravitas (the cat and the murder trial) are hit like a perfect note in an opera.

Wow.

I'm Sorry. I Can''t Stand the Whole Cat Thing

Things move along with great action, give and take, in the big trial. We realize that the guy who is really in charge, for the most part, is a killer/terrorist, and that he is really good at making people dance. He is smug and fearless. Cameron is such an enigma because he is more interested in getting his way than doing justice. Meanwhile, Donna is so taken with the bad guy, she can't leave him alone. But things change. While the mock trial was entertaining, the whole thing with the cat is so ridiculous I can hardly watch it. Unfortunately, that cat is going to rear its paws again in the future.
