The weapon Agent Dragoon uses is a Noreen BN-36, a high powered semi-automatic rifle based on the AR-15 platform, manufactured in Belgrade, Montana. It's chambered to fire the military grade .30-06 full metal jacket cartridge, and is powerful enough to penetrate light armor. In the film, the weapon has a distinctive sound different from the other firearms heard in the movie.
The laser bullets fired by GunForce agents are blue, while the laser bullets Anaconda troopers fire are red. In the 1990s G.I. Joe cartoon, the G.I. Joe soldiers fired blue lasers, and Cobra forces fired red lasers.
All of the lead actors were trained by Marty the producer to shoot the live weapons seen in the film and move tactically to prepare for the battle.
The shootout is a mix of CGI and practical effects. Most of the laser bullet impacts on the trees are computer-generated, but a few live squibs were used. These are particularly obvious on the tree in front of Agent Dragoon, and the tree where the advancing Anaconda soldier takes cover behind. The bullet holes seen in front of Dragoon's tree are real, drilled by the producer Marty Nicholas.
The weapons that the GunForce agents have are all M-16, AR and M4 style assault rifles used by the US military, while the Anaconda soldiers carry AK style assault rifles used by the Russian military.
