Alfonso López Pumarejo agrees to have a biographical novel written about him. Thus, the former president begins to tell the story of his family, the López and the Pumarejo.
Pedro A. López is in charge of business in the Samper house. After the death of Don Ambrosio López, Pedro married María del Rosario, with whom he had a son: Alfonso López Pumarejo, the future president of Colombia.
Alfonso López began his political career in the House of Representatives around 1916, there he met his future friend Laureano Gómez. The López company reaches such growth that Pedro decides to hand over the administration to Alfonso.
The support that López Pumarejo's government received on May 1, 1936 is reported, which set off alarm bells for the opposition, seeing that the government's allies included the Popular Front and the newly created communist party.
López narrates his last days in the presidency until he resigned in 1945, how he was Colombia's delegate to the UN and how he endured the assassination of Gaitán and the coup d'estado of Gustavo Rojas Pinilla. Dies in London in 1959.
