Honestly, I think this show deserved way more recognition than it got. The songs are surprisingly incredibly catchy. So catchy I've seen people complain about it...
The characters' personalities, although not too heavily shown because the episodes are music videos, are very iconic and lovable in my opinion. They are quite different from each other, and they show that no matter how different people are, we can always get along (we'll sing our get along song...)
And where else do you find 5 brightly dressed people (a forgetful happy girl that loves everyone, a funny magician guy, a nerdy bookworm, a martial artist that likes to draw and a bossy "leader" that tries to prevent the group from falling apart) that live in a colourful lighthouse with a "permanently confused" inventor and a fluffy, purple sock-eating creature?
I think the show is great for all ages to enjoy too. The main target audience is young children, but the point of the project is to also make music that everyone can enjoy. Some characters could also be seen as relatable to older kids.
They have songs with many different positive messages: for example, the theme song "Wake Up Smiling" talks about being happy every day and "The Get Along Song" talks about getting along with people and having good friends. So in my opinion, the characters are also good role models for children.
It's a shame that the group split up. I think that they deserved way more, such as a proper, full on show on Nick Jr rather than just the music videos. I could imagine a very successful series, each episode containing a different problem or question that needs to be answered. It would've also helped explain the characters' personalities better for those who hadn't seen the theatre show.
In conclusion, I think Go! Go! Go! Is great and it's a shame that they aren't around anymore.
