The Secluded House is a no-budget Australian found footage short film that stands around the 30 minute mark.
It tells the story of a group of 4 young guys who are desperate to film paranormal activity and venture out to the only recorded "Haunted" house nearby. Upon arrival things go south and I'm pretty sure you know the drill by now with these kinds of films.
I've always said that The Blair Witch Project (1999) has a lot to answer for and even more so here. The Secluded House is one of the most similiar films to it by far, and that doesn't do it any favours. Blair Witch succeeded due to it's orginality at the time, this was made 13yrs later after we'd seen hundreds of pretenders.
I'm not saying I'm burnt out on the genre as I still believe it has potential, I just wish that in making these films the creators would remember what has come before it and not replicate them.
The Good:
Camera quality is slightly above par
One interesting moment (Yes, one)
The Bad:
So generic it hurts
Seen it all before
Things I Learnt From This Movie:
These kind of films can't make any money, surely?
