Hi Dad, we have news. January was slow beans so we shook it up. Have you ever seen two people so excited about a 14-year-old van?. Also, note Peter's distress, BURGER KING WAS CLOSED. Until next time. xo love laurie
Hi Dad. It's official, springtime in Wales is my favorite season. You'll see why. Everything is in bloom and lambs are everywhere. Also, we finally took the van for a drive. xo Laurie
Well Dad, it finally happened. After two months and many roadblocks, we managed to get out to West Wales. Watch as your extremely not-skilled-at-camping daughter attempts to pitch a tent awning in a gale force wind. Love you. xoxo Laurie
Hi Dad. I've been working on the van to make it more comfortable, including giving up on that foam "mattress" from amazon and getting a futon. We went to a beautiful campsite in Carmarthenshire, Wales and it was really fun. xo Laurie
On our way home from a camping trip, we found something a little better than your average rest stop. This is Laugharne Castle, not pronounced anything like the spelling. Hopefully I came close to saying it correctly.
We are such seasoned professional campers now after TWO(!!!) van camps that we decided to hit the road and the sea and try our luck in Ireland. Spoiler alert: the van breaks, AGAIN :) xo Laurie
Hi Dad -- We are deep in spring on the farm, but I am resisting the temptation to see only these few acres of gorgeous country so we packed up and headed out for the long weekend. Shell Island was amazing. xo Laurie
Hi from Wales. This week we are the stand-ins for the farm family and I'm loving it, though still a little timid around the pigs. Also, I have two big upgrades to the van. xo Laurie
August on the farm here in Wales is: heatwave, drought, sheep, pigs, a million miles of walking up every hill carrying a bucket, and lots of friendly faces and ear scratches. Oh, and one major escape.
Summer is waning and the blackberries are ripe. We got away for the weekend to Doliago Farm Campground in Llanwrthwl, Wales and cooked dinner and had deep philosophical chats about cows and Pringles. xo Laurie
It's the last few days of summer and here's a little round up of five things, including live action footage of these two Americans being the most stereotypical people ever, but the tacos were worth it. xo Laurie
It's Peter's birthday, so we camped at our loveliest campground to date. We stayed in Pembrokeshire. For the rest of the week we explored Pembrokeshire and apparently I discovered the time lapse feature on my phone. xo Laurie
October is charming and idyllic until - it isn't. I'm not saying that creepy crawlies are a reason to vanish from your life and re-emerge in South America under a new identity, but I'm not ruling it out. xo Laurie
November was a mixed bag but I got the most important things done: sheep massages and stocking up on boxed mac 'n cheese for the van camping trip we're doing in (ohhhh) 12 days.
Hi Dad. We set out in December to drive our 2008 VW Caddy from our home in Wales all the way to Denmark. In this letter we make it as far as Germany, you'll have to watch Part Two to see if we make it to Denmark :) Love, Laurie
Dear Dad, We drove from the farm in Wales to the northernmost part of Denmark. We camped in below freezing temperatures, camped in the snow, had a few mishaps, and finally share the real reason we drove all that way in our 2008 VW Caddy.
