Ted Turner set it off at the channel launch event in Atlanta, Georgia. The male announcer said: "Turner Entertainment Networks proudly present: The world's first 24-hour Cartoon Network", as the cloud dust transitions into a blue checkerboard background. In subsequent airings, the program begins with the Cartoon Network logo spinning in on the background.
