Corruption at The Mayor's Office
shelbythuylinh25 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
A respected journalist that was killed and it looks like that over in the hate crime. But that despite being from a racist hate group, still it digs deeper as that it digs over in the mayor's office and in the deputy mayor's corruption.

With in the deputy mayor that is found slain before the cops can arrest or question her as now they must make a case against the suspect in question.

Shaw is back over from his suspension over in where two white officers counter complaining on him from the last episode. As really think that this will not be in the going away anytime soon at all.

As it will not be the last of it IMHO!

Deputy Mayors
safenoe28 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
One curious aspect of politics and pop culture is how prominently New York City Deputy Mayors feature in movies and TV series. Here a Deputy Mayor is part of some conspiracy involving City Hall, and it reminded me of John Cusack's role as Deputy Mayor in the Harold Becker 1996 movie City Hall, and also the sitcom Spin City, also released in 1996, that had Michael J Fox as the Deputy Mayor. Anyway, there are dilemmas here with the prosecuting and the bigger picture and all, and graffiti that's offensive and all. I'm hoping Chris Noth can make a return to Law and Order to kind of beef things up.

Deadline
bobcobb3018 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Law and Order is not quite what it once was, but for the most part this is the kind of show that we all grew up watching and it feels as authentic as it once was.

The cases are kind of underwhelming week to week though. I feel like SVU gives us too many twists and this one does not give us enough, so maybe somehow we will get back on track and find that ideal middle ground.

The cast this season all feel like the right fit though. A little shaky with the reboot last year, but they have found a much better groove in things this season and hopefully we get another one from NBC after the year wraps.

A Timely and Powerful Episode
alzeem-349537 April 2023
Law & Order has always been known for addressing pressing social issues in its episodes, and Season 22 Episode 16: Deadline is no exception. The episode, which aired on March 23, 2023, dives into the murder of a journalist who had an unpublished report about a politician, touching on themes of political power, anti-Semitism, and free speech.

The storyline is both realistic and disturbing, as it shows the challenges faced by the detectives and prosecutors when dealing with a case that has deep political roots. As they navigate through the twists and turns of the investigation, the audience is taken on an emotional and thought-provoking journey, exploring the consequences of power and the importance of free speech in today's society.

The episode also tackles the issue of anti-Semitism, a timely and critical subject that is not often addressed in mainstream television. By weaving this theme into the storyline, Law & Order demonstrates its commitment to highlighting social issues that need to be discussed and understood.

The writing in this episode is top-notch, with gripping dialogue and a well-structured plot that keeps viewers engaged from beginning to end. The actors deliver strong performances, particularly in the courtroom scenes, where they capture the intensity and passion that often accompanies such high-stakes cases.

The production values are also excellent, with a realistic and gritty portrayal of the city that adds to the overall atmosphere of the episode. The attention to detail in the settings, costumes, and props contributes to the authenticity of the story.

Overall, Law & Order Season 22 Episode 16: Deadline is a powerful and relevant episode that masterfully addresses complex social issues while delivering an engaging and thrilling story. Fans of the series and newcomers alike will appreciate the thought-provoking themes and the superb execution of this well-crafted episode.

Robert Telles case
parkshady28 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is based off the murder of Jeff German a Las Vegas reporter who was murdered by a Las Vegas politician Robert Telles. The reporter reported on a story that Robert Telles had a hostile work environment with bullying staffers, having affairs with women who weren't his wife, domestic violence allegations against his wife and children. The reporters story ended up costing this guy in the democratic primary and rightfully so and he didn't go quietly he stalked the guy outside his house and murdered the reporter in cold blood DNA being his downfall what is missing is the politician is not going quietly not only representing himself in Court but trying to drag other politicians down. It was only a matter of time when law and order did an episode on this episode.

The Usual Pablum
bkkaz31 March 2023
In this one, some poor old man is killed in his apartment. His son immediately accuses an African American radio host of stirring up trouble about Zionism. Then the blame gets cast on an unredeemable scrawny twerp complete with tattoos and overacting. Lurch returns and gets hot under the collar when the twerp goads him - I thought he was supposed to be the more even keeled one and Derp was the one with the temper (not to mention the bigotry). Are the writers already losing track of which character is which? They are written and performed so blandly they could well be interchanged.

From there, the story takes the usual turns. GASP - the twerp turns out to have an alibi, sending Derp and Lurch to question another twerp, this one working in tech and media. Aha! Anti-Semitism may not be at the heart of the crime at all. Meanwhile, Manhands does the usual growling and glowering. The severe looking computer tech looks severe. Sam Wasterston does his Sam the Eagle impersonation with yet another hallway and doorway conference, respectively, so, I guess, Waterston doesn't even need to sit down. Meanwhile, AOC and the Garden Gnome act stunned when the defense tries to suppress evidence. THEY ALWAYS TRY TO SUPPRESS EVIDENCE. And when the phrase "fruit of the poisonous tree" is uttered for, what, the 5,000th time in the show's history, THE MUSIC GETS LOUDLY OMINOUS.

This is another paint by numbers episode of the reboot, with little mystery or tension. It goes through the expected motions, which maybe if you're new to the series you don't realize have been done far better before. I won't comment on other reviewers, though that seems to be de rigueur these days, but I'll say if you're easily amused, you'll want to give this 10 overenthusiastic stars! It gets two.

I just wish the Law and Order franchise would spend as much time looking at bigotry for other groups, too. It seems we get examinations specific to a few groups but the rest are ignored -- and this has been going on for decades. For shame Dicky Wolfe, for shame.

Lastly, I'll say again that AOC is really the only thing good about the reboot, but the writers are making her character increasingly more stupid as the episodes go on.

Actors that do not fit
jlketner5617 April 2023
Camryn Manheim does not fit as the Lt. I have been hoping that she would eventually fit in the show, but as of the latest episode, she does not. I was hoping she would as I like her as an actress, but she cannot pull it off. Another person that does not fit this program is Hugh Dancy, he does not fit the character that he is portraying. There have been several actors portray the ADA on here and he just does not fit the character that he os portraying. If this new version of Law and Order does not make it in the ratings it is because the people that have made the decisions of hiring the actors for these two parts have made bad decisions. I hope they get wise very quickly & get rid of these 2 actors & hire 2 new actors before the show gets cancelled! If they do not do this quickly I believe this new version will be cancelled before their 3rd season.
