Good Enough

Japanese Drama " Osama Ni Sasagu Kusuriyubi " is a romantic comedy with the theme of a contract marriage.

The drama has an enjoyable plot, kind of predictable and kind of cheesy, but if you enjoy this kind of dramas then you will probably enjoy this one as well.

The couple was cute as well and had chemistry. The love triangle, however, was boring.

Nevertheless, the characters were adorable and the main ones had a lot of sweet and romantic moments.

The performances were enjoyable as well by everyone in the cast. The female lead was espeically enjoyable.

So, overall, seven stars out of ten stars.

Love Over Business Will Win Every Time

Kissing the Ring Finger (Ousama ni Sasagu Kusuriyubi) is a love contract marriage drama which I love, and loved the casting of the ML in this drama Yamada Ryosuke as he played the traditionally conservative family heir perfectly. He was cute, handsome, romantic and caring. The FL was OK but at times a little self serving and **itchy in her acting when he really did like her after all. I have seen better contract marriage dramas before but this one felt a little short in a couple of ares due to the fault of the script I think in about episode 9 with the breakup that had no explanation - just out of the blue and left the FL hurt and made the ML look like another lying you know what. The script could have been better - not the actor's fault they are just going along with the script. The first love of the FL side story could have been more interesting and come more into play or have been better scripted. Also never did care for large lapses of time at the end of a story - please just get on with the story and forget about the lapses. Cute ending though so appreciate that so I gave it an 8 rating overall.

Warning: Spoilers
9/10 is my rating. This is a 2023 Japanese romance series with 10, 45-60 minute episodes. Also known under the Japanese title Ousama ni Sasagu Kusuriyubi

First I provide a Unique synopsis then review.

Synopsis

Hanada (Kanna Hashimoto) has had a tough life because she is so pretty people assume she uses her looks to get ahead and treat her poorly as a result. She has a hard time keeping jobs because customers pock up on her and colleagues are jealous. She finally gets a job as a wedding planner and thinks she has finally landed a job she can keep. It is not long though and trouble starts there, landing her in the office of the company President. Togo Nitta (Ryosuke Yamada) has turned down a variety of eligible women preferring to be alone to having a fake relationship. His focus is on increasing the sales for the bridal company to prove his ability as his father's successor. When he sees Ayuka he comes up with a mutually beneficial plan in the form of a marriage contact. She needs money for her struggling family and he can use the perfect marriage to promote his business. No pesky feelings involved right?

Review

It is a nicely paced romance with a happy ending. If you like the cold CEO type, contract marriages and/or cinderella like stories this is a good one for all of that.

Spoiler

I found the plot point that being too attractive has its own set of problems compelling. It is a phenomenon not frequently recognized but those that have experienced it know it exists.

She had a way about her that she remained positive despite people treating her unfairly due to assumptions they made about her. They were perfect for each other as each led ampn isolated life for different reasons

I was a little disappointed when he broke it off with her and was pursuing an arranged marriage. That is one of my least favorite tropes. I was glad she realized what was going in and basically told him knock it off.

Great Start to the show but
cassielund-0362023 June 2023
I will say this show started off pretty good. The male lead started off being a strong character going after what he wanted as a rich man. Well that is how I expected the show to develop and then he gets tamed a little as he develops his relationship with the female lead. Oh no it became a total 360. By the end of the show he ended up putting on the girl pants and she ended up being the man. The director was obviously trying to make a point that men shouldn't be men anymore. The first 3 episodes I thoroughly enjoyed the series and had to finish it off since I was already committed. I didn't even need to watch the last episode because it was obvious how it was going to conclude and who would rise up to be the man in this relationship. I give 3 stars because the first 3 episodes were good. .
