Cory stole this season
kyrross9 November 2023
Billy Crudup is amazing in this show. Every line delivered by him got me cracking up or emotional. He is such a complex character and it would have been so easy to make unlovable, cold, unidimensional. Billy just lift it up, and the writers gave him the best line.

That last scene with Bradley had me in tears. When the credit rolled, my wife and I discussed how his character stole every scene he is in.

Alex and Bradley were a bit off tough. Alex still is on her high horses where everybody owed her. She is entitle, ungratefull and overall frustrated by all her privileges.

Bradley is slowly braking up apart. In season 1 and 2, she is so driven, this unstoppable force of character.. Here, she cave in and become a victim. It is kind of sad to see to be honest.

Overall, i enjoyed this season, but I would take more screen time with Cory over Alex or Bradley.

Hope season 4 dont cast him off seeing how season 3 ended.

A disjointed season finally pulled together
eoswaldbigred12 November 2023
Just finished watching the Season 3 finale. Finally, a payoff after a very disjointed season.

Season 1 had the overall arc of the Me Too stories.

Season 2 had the overall arc of the Covid pandemic.

Season 3 had... a lot of separate stories that didn't seem to have a common thread and that were a bit too removed from each other. They didn't really come together until this final episode.

Not that it wasn't good - the whole series is so amazing. But it felt like it got too far from its title - The Morning Show. It had very little to do with The Morning Show itself for this third season and I think that's why every story felt so separate. The whole Paul Marks story felt too long to tell with very little substance until this episode.

Here's hoping they pull it back together next season. Take it back to The Morning Show and its behind the scenes machinations and give the fourth season some kind of overall arc and you'll take us back to what made it so good in the first place.

Brilliant storytelling
tarynsnewhome16 November 2023
This telling episode tells the story visually and nonverbally through beautiful transitions and musical perfection. My heart was racing with the musical intonations. I truly felt the fears and anxieties throughout with so many twists and turns and intertwined storylines. Adore the chemistries in so many of the relationships on every level. The Morning Show captures the angst and fears of so many of the controversial topics everyone runs from. Proud to see the journalistic integrities shining through in very twisted and endearing ways. Seeing the mysteries unfold each episode trying to find Easter eggs. Anticipating the new and returning actors.

Warning: Spoilers
This was a season with some really good moments and some headscratchers. It kind of ended on both as it was an impactful finale, but kind of predictable at the same time.

There were a lot of quick cons and shifts on Mad Men and how ironic that Jon Hamm is now the victim of one? Alex outsmarting and stealing UBA from underneath Paul Marks was certainly a moment. There is no way two organizations the size of CBS and NBC could get approved for a merger, but I digress.

I feel like Cory deserved a better ending and not have his character drug through the mud, but it brought out some strong acting performances from Billy Crudup.

Surpassed its previous seasons. AMAZING SEASON THROUGHOUT
vaibhav-285738 November 2023
Yes, first season was incredible, second a bit underwhelming. BUT Third Season is as good as it can be. The writers did an amazing job for season 3. I have always believed in the show and the fact that it has a lot of potential, such as shows like Succession and Newsroom. Well done for third season, make season four even better. As for the actors, most of them are extrmely good, every character journey throughout the season made snese. Introducing John Ham was the best decision. Overall, a powerful tv show and better then currently soo many other shows. I hopr this show gets its due appraisal.

Billy Crudup was the showrunnner.

The season felt good, but I was not amazed. Man, what an act by Corry Ellison. Billy didn't get more screentime, but he gave him all. The last scene with Bradley made me emotional.

The season was all about taking ownership of UBA, which was Paul Marks in that case. Paul and Alex Levy did some justice to their characters. Bradley was superb this season. Also, Christiana Hunter did a good job with her character. She was courageous overall during the season.

Overall, the show was good, but it wasn't as good as season 1. I think Corry should get more screentime, which could give him Emmys. Mia, in her character, also does well.

Great season overall, but

Warning: Spoilers
This season has been captivating, but it feels like the ending was written the way it is because the writers didn't know how to stop Paul Marks. Cory spent such a long time looking for investors to save UBS, but Alex just puts together a deal overnight that would "save" the company? But the merger also produces a similar end result to the one Chip was ranting about on the show!

Also, what Paul Marks did was supervillain stuff. A false flag hack? Spying on everyone including Alex? If you're going to write someone this calculating and devious, don't make him slip up that easily with that "Hanover" bit. Not to mention it basically made no difference whether Alex changed the text onto Hanover, because he shouldn't have known about Bradley's plans to begin with! Not only that, but that final conversation between him and Alex was bizarre. This is a psychopath we're talking about. He didn't make some "oopsie" and ruined their relationship by getting off the helicopter. It just made no sense to portray him as a mere bad boyfriend.

The real winner of this episode and season was Cory. Massive kudos to Billy Crudup for his transition between the exec with that permanent corporate smile followed by shock and outrage. Never thought I'd ever sympathise with a c-suite type of guy, but Cory just might be the best written character on the show so far.

Surpassed Any Hit Drama The Best Season yet.
moviesfilmsreviewsinc22 December 2023
The Morning Show concludes its most entertaining season with "The Overview Effect," a predictable finale that recasts UBA and its culture in a heroic light. The show's season has been filled with soapiest elements, but the finale feels contrived and preachy. It was expected that The Morning Show would shake things up, but it ends by undoing everything that made the season enjoyable. UBA is set to merge with NBN, which is expected to be a humorous and entertaining move. The petty and catty anchors of UBA will likely be on screen, offering an opportunity to introduce new characters and refocus the show. It's also possible that the merger will help cut dead weight. The outcome remains to be seen. The Morning Show's finale shows that Bradley will leave the FBI unscathed and Cory will wrangle power at the new UBA-NBN, despite his current injuries. The show's final scene and Bradley's testimony suggest the show is ready to move on with the Bradley/Cory relationship. However, the show does not provide any real closure to Laura and Bradley's relationship, even confronting Laura's decision to cover for Bradley's felony. Laura and Alex have a heart-to-heart, but Laura seems unwilling to forgive Bradley for lying to her and questions whether she ever truly knew the woman she loved. The show offers no real closure for the pair and almost completely ignores their relationship in the final episode of the season. The Morning Show has revealed that billionaire Paul Marks is a bully who is willing to go outside the lines to get what he wants. However, for at least 75% of the season, The Morning Show didn't write him that way, making him an unnecessary villain. The show's inability to commit to the character's supposed message, such as income inequality and the power of the mega-rich, makes his behavior in the last few episodes feel like whiplash. "The Overview Effect" also finds itself in the position of casting Cory Ellison as a hero, rushing in to save UBA from Paul Marks due to his concern for legacy media and the jobs of the 20K employees he has never cared about before. The only reason Paul Marks is involved in this is Cory, who stalked him while surfing. The idea that this is the hero is a lot of fun. The finale of the show, "The Office," focuses heavily on the friendship between Bradley and Alex, a bond that has been ignored for at least a season and a half. While it's good that Bradley is facing up to her actions, it's hard to believe that her decision to turn herself in was more about recognizing her wrongdoings than because Laura found out and dumped her. Bradley hasn't behaved as though she feels bad about her choices, but her decision to turn herself in and cover up Hal's becoming public knowledge is not well-received. The finale is more focused on reaching specific narrative destinations, such as the final scene outside the FBI building, than making sure those big moments make sense for the characters' respective journies. This is a shame, as Season 3 is the best the show has ever been, and it's difficult to imagine what it might have looked like if it had managed to stick the landing.

Build up to let down
pmfrqxddm9 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Well hard to know exactly where to start. I had high hopes for the season but it seemed to Teeter around a bit and I thought it might go somewhere but then, No.

The Jon Hamm character had some real opportunity. It was squandered. Let me just say it is damn near impossible to believe that somebody with his calculating as that character was would just let it out and just say Hanover. Nope I'm not buying what they're selling.

And then finally the cliffhanger, oh my gosh. Everybody was celebrating but why? More people are probably gonna lose their jobs now with the "merger" than letting the 'legacy media' be acquired. They even said as much when they said all of the redundancies could be handled through the merger. What a mess. That's the best idea they could come up with? And that sorry excuse for a board Lord help me. I'm struggling with why I keep investing in the show when it keeps letting me down.

Half Satisfying
emilydsofia9 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I really like the morning show but some of the plot points just seem so unrealistic. The writing this season was so hit and miss, and sometimes it seems like they put a bandaid over the poor writing by just making a character have a meltdown over something. I had to skip through Chips f-bombing, it was a bit cringe.

And Paul saying Hanover? I think it was just too childish, someone that smart wouldn't make a mistake like that, I also think he'd know Bradley is from West Virginia and Hanover would be a suspicious thing to say.

I did actually like the merger twist, I think it sets up season 4 to be really interesting, but I don't buy that a major company would be able to come up with financial statements supporting a merger overnight, or that NBNs CEO, legal team, board of management and potentially owners, would agree to that so soon.

I also find the Cory, Bradley and Laura love triangle exhausting. None of them deserve each other at this point, there's just been so many misunderstandings. It's so unrealistic to have Bradley and Laura be so in love one minute and then hate each other one episode later. I also think it's horrific that they're just sweeping the outing thing under the rug, peoples lives are ruined over outing and they're using it as a flimsy plot device, sometimes the characters find it unforgivable and then the next minute nobody cares.

I'm glad that Bradley and Hal ended the season at the FBI, I think that shows both characters have grown and I really hope they put Bradley's traumatic family background to rest next season.

As always, I love Bradley and Alex's friendship, it's a real highlight to the show and the rivalry and merger between NBN and UBA is something I'll be looking forward to next season. I'd like to see more consistency in characters behaviours next season though and a few more plot lines including the supporting cast. As always I'm loving Chip, Mia and Stella. The actor that plays Cory is also so compelling and I'm looking forward to seeing who ends up on top of NBA or whatever it'll be called. I want succession level drama next season.

a very thin veil
kyrenaika9 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Well, after an abysmal third season, it appeared that this outing was gearing up to be a bit o' fun ... until they felt the need to shoehorn the idea that the world just couldn't get by without the sanctimonious guardians of truth, i.e legacy media. Which is nothing more than a thinly veiled mud slinging campaign against the new X (neither bastion nor monster) and other places that stand against making sense or ship their platform in the murky waters of the big bad world they would deem curatable for our consumption. What a gift it is to be force fed a lecture in the guise of entertainment, to have subtle reminders implanted into our psyche about how some advertisers' narrow version of events is more valuable than the actual story of reality, soon to be removed and forgotten. Yum Yum.

But have no fear, there are enough marketable cruelties thrust upon the unfortunates in the present to squelch out another season. Can't wait to see how they spin all the wells in the Mediterranean.

Confusing and frustrating
lakings9721 November 2023
The Morning Show: Season Three on Apple TV+ fast forwarded a few years after Covid with the cast returning for another year of chaos at UBA. This season we learn the network is being bought by a high tech multinational corporation headed by Jon Hamm and his counsel played by Tig Notaro. Each season the news group covers a few major events in society and this year was no exception with the mention of the wildfires in CA to the war in Ukraine but mostly covering the Supreme Court overturning of Roe vs Wade. I could not care less for any of the characters maybe because it took too damn long for this season to be released. Bradley who is played by Reese Witherspoon carries a secret of the events on January 6th storming of the Capital. I just did not understand the big deal of the secret and why it was such a big fuss. Most of this season centered around Billy Crudup's character on his powers and manipulation to sell the company and the advancement of Bradley to the Night News program. Overall the show was frustrating and just not lovable including Hamm who played the antagonist in the series. Another season is in progress to be released in 2025, just way too long to wait to watch this show.

mediocre, insufferable
nerrdrage1 January 2024
This is a review for whole series so far rather than just this episode but I think I'm out. Maybe next season's media merger plotline will be more interesting although we have to suspend disbelief that the FCC would even allow such a thing.

I've never liked Jennifer Aniston in this role or maybe any role. She just has this vapid, self-centered persona prone to fits of hysteria that may be right for the character she's playing but is very difficult to sympathize with.

The lack of sympathetic characters is best summarized by Steve Carrel's character, when he was contemplating bankruptcy and needs to sell at least one of his three luxury residences, Oh poor dear, however will he cope. Who cares about these overprivileged clowns and their inane personal problems.

Another problem is that this show has started to go over much the same territory as Succession, a vastly better series, and the reminder doesn't help.

Succession, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Sopranos and Mad Men all succeeded with casts of characters we weren't supposed to sympathize with, but they were all much better written, which is how they got away with it. Not this show.
