In the hell of refugees the lights of Trieste as a glimmer of hope
matteogaudiano1 February 2023
A documentary on clandestine migrations from Pakistan to Italy, through the inhuman system of "games". The scandal of the "readmissions" or a continuous transfer of refugees between Italy, Bosnia and Croatia. The embarrassed responses of the Italian government. All narrated through the words of the refugees. It is precisely the words of the refugees that echo more and more throughout the film. The images are certainly important but more than the choice of using the videos shot with the mobile phones of the refugees themselves, it is the narrations of the refugees, their voices as witnesses, that expand like blades in the viewer's mind. The spectator who goes to see a documentary like this, which deals with a topic like this, is almost certainly a spectator who wants to be shaken, moved by what he already knows but who never stops (and must never stop) scandalizing.
