Just Sort of Dull
Hitchcoc21 March 2019
This short is rather limited in effect. The setup is OK in that a person who abuses another becomes the target of revenge. The boy conjures up a devil to assist him. It turns out it is a big pink entity who has no real Satanic powers. Not only that, it seems to groove on the girl who is the enemy (they have a lot in common). But, ultimately, it's just not very interesting and the ending is unsatisfying.

maybe, nice

...or just bizarre. because it is a too pink, flufy, charming, correct story. sure, the animation is more than good and the devil cute but something remains unsolved after its end. and the humor, the bullyng, the emo boy and the dark magic with not the expected result are reduced at a form of joke "ad usum delphini". and the revenge is so absurde than it is difficult to say if the animation could be the good thing.

Pointless.

Other reviewers have said it's dull. Add to that the fact that it is senseless. I can't derive any themes from it. Does every film need to have a meaning? Well, no, but there is a charm about a few films which can't be explained, and this film lacks exactly that.

Something missing
Gordon-118 November 2017
This short film tells the story of a young boy who is often bullied by a beautiful girl in the neighbourhood. He summons a devil from hell, hoping to seek revenge. However, the devil is super cute and is seemingly unable to perform any evil deeds.

"The Colors of Evil" has a cute devil and a quick paced plot, but there is still something missing. The fact that it is about revenge is probably too negative for a Pixar short. It lacks heartwarming elements, and it is unlikely to touch heartstrings of children and adults.
