This was a pretty straight forward story. A film producers fails miserably at attempting to blackmail a Hollywood actor with a DVD recording of him being with tranny, and that's where the story goes, stays, and ends. It's not a long drawn out journey story, but it does take you on a nice little blackmail extortion ride and brings you to the destination. A little funny, yet serious, kudos to the all the actors making this watchable. This formula that has been done a few times, but for these characters and with this story line, it was decently done. I definitely recommend ....good watch

Pretty awful

This was not what I expected at all. I suppose I've seen worse films. This is basically a film you'd see at one of the lesser known film festivals at one of the unpopular times. It's an okay story but when you're done, you feel like you've wasted your time. There are a couple of scenes in the film that make it seem really unprofessional, like something a couple of frat boys threw together in their spare time. There's a lot of content out there now and so much of it is just so much better than this movie that I can't recommend it.
Great soundtrack and good scenario.

I had fun watching this movie. I say that as it seems that I'm the only one that thought there was some subtle humor weaved into the story. The Big Take is categorized as a thriller but the plot has some funny moments, what made this movie more than enjoyable to watch. Justin Daly did a good job with this movie, a fluent story with some unexpected elements, a good cast, and an excellent soundtrack (in fact one of the better soundtracks I've heard in a long time). The music (ska, punkrock and metal) is a great addition to this movie, the bands and artists are the ones I listen to all the time. If you're into ska this movie is already worth the watch, you get good music on top of an entertaining story.
Good short film worth a watch

Max (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) has a screenplay but can't get any funding for his film about a fireman who dies in the line of duty. His friend and producer Vic (Slate Holmgren) takes action and through a series of circumstances makes a video where he can and does blackmail Douglas Brown (James McCaffrey) for $200,000 to make the film. Brown hires an investigator and second story woman (Zoe Bell) as they go after Max, as he is their only clue. Max doesn't know Douglas has been blackmailed and believes he just wants to finance his film. There is confusion as they talk about "the film."
This is a pretty decent dark comedy. Not LOL funny, but amusing.
Guide: F-word. No sex. Oksana Lada in a see-thru top.

I found my self second guessing this the first 15 minute or so seemed and looked very low budget. The producer guy was the issue. Once it got going I was " laughing out loud" at many parts. Especially the phone calls between the detective and Ieary. " Good now shut them off and go to bed". Hahah. And the calls with frank" I don't get this". Haha. Was this a great movie no but laughing is good for you and Oh I laughed. and John Enos is in it my long time crush. So it was a fun watch.
Great movie!

At first I was unsure if this was a B movie. After 5 min you slide in to the story and it keeps getting better and better. Its a movie that drags you in and puts you on the edge of your seat, non pretentious simple and funny movie with a good cast. I was hoping the DVD would be shown at the end credits.
