Not a bad little indie joint, but the constant stream of straight-angle mid-shots and closeups leave the viewer feeling claustrophobic and uncomfortable. I didn't know it was possible to show a baseball game in only mid-shots and closeups but it's done in this one, and it left me literally aching for a nice, wide establishing shot of anything. I watched it hoping for something light but poignant (think "Drinking Buddies" or "Save the Date") and was a little disappointed because the characters seem to lack any sense of humor. That main character's bad attitude could have really used a razor wit, and the best friend needed a boost too. The plot just sort of plods along, is a bit disjointed (where did the random kickball rivalry come from?) and seems to suffer from a genre-identity crisis. That being said the acting wasn't bad and the score/music were fantastic. Nice effort from a bunch of first timers with potential.
