*yawn* ... *sigh*
dark-riddler7 February 2013
One of the most boring films I've ever seen o.o This is supposedly a comedy, yet I haven't seen comedy worth of that name on it. The actors aren't bad (I liked Olivia Alexander, it has charm), though, so it was not their fault. But the plot, the way the film was made, the action, the satire... a hell of a awful movie. It lacked taste. It could have some potential but failed. A waste of time, which it was spent expecting the movie to get better - but it won't. "30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" also made me understand that Paranormal Activity titles are poor movies, despite the suspense that sometimes exist. Perhaps this isn't just my type of movie or perhaps i'm being too harsh - but not recommended /:

the first twelve minutes make this watchable...
oundjianm22 June 2013
This would easily be a 8/10 in my opinion if the level of comedy from the first twelve minutes was held throughout.. Don't get me wrong, those 12 minutes are in no way hilarious but they are at least what I expect from a stupid spoof...

French Stewart literally saved the entire film.. Without having been entertained at the start like that, I doubt I would have continued this film.

Saying that... I still recommend this film to any spoof lover. This is definitely not the worst spoof there is out there. And some parts were quite funny, even funnier than the funny parts from "A Haunted House". Anyway, I felt like I had to write a review to justify only giving it a 4/10. Even though the score is low this film is still worth watching and cracking open a few cold ones with a few friends.

So don't be discouraged by the low score it is still worth a watch for any spoof fan. Funnier than "Epic Movie" and "Disaster Movie" but less funny than "Meet the Spartans" if that gives you any idea. IF you hated all three equally then you simply don't like our generation's stupid spoofs, so please stay away and stop bitchin' bout how you would rather gouge your eyes out, poop rusty nails or any other form of masochistic comments which you all seam to love writing about. Peace....

PS: "F" OFF DANA!

Not A Good Show At All.
nairtejas2 May 2013
I enjoy spoof movies even though most of them line in the miseries of IMDb Bottom 250. But, this is one spoof movie I would not like to watch again.

Because... It starts with turn-off note captioning nudity et al. The blurriness couldn't help the gross-quotient to decline. Spoofing almost 10 horror movies & The Dark Knight Rises takes a lot of nerve & I believe the filmmakers forgot to improvise. With certain plot points copied from the recent "A Haunted House" & other spoof stereotypes, half way through the movie, I lost the zeal I I had surmounted after a couple of rib-tickled here & there.

As a whole, this movie blows like a balloon & blasts up due to lack of spoofing jokes its credible plot demands... And, many sequences are too ballsy & ludicrous to construe keeping mind the genre it belongs to.

BOTTOM LINE: You can give it a try if you can somehow watch it for free. There is no point paying for this. This is a stupid movie!

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? NO

Bad found footage is 100 times better than bad spoof
WoLf_DiGiTaL9 May 2022
There are 2 sides to a coin. On the bright side of the coin the makers writers and directors will be going to hell for the blasphemy. On the other bright side for them they could find their way to Jesus accept him as their savior and be redeemed. I am not even gonna make a joke because it could maybe happen and that would be awesome.

Now then. I have found in this movie a stone cold fact. Bad found footage films are usually incredibly better than a bad spoof movie. At least with found footage there is an element of the unknown and curiosity is a pretty powerful motivator.

Bad spoof films are like having 500 ten cent off coupons (limit one per visit per table) to Applebee's that expired 3 years prior stuffed in your pocket as you walk in to the outback steak house. Think about that for a minute. Now that is the feeling you have watching a spoof movie written by one of those people who post to the conspiracy forums about 9/11 being an inside job.

Well this movie is worse than that. You're welcome. I accept tips.

Yes, I mad.
MichaelLangley3 August 2013
Every so often you find yourself being subjected to something that is so horrible you have to live through it to better explain to future generations how they can avoid such a fate.

30 Nights of Paranormal Activity etc. is not an example of that type of experience. This movie is so bad that you should not only NOT sit through it, you should give a proper Amish-style shaming to anyone who has watched it that mentions it afterward.

I've never been a huge fan of the 'parody film' but I understand why they get made. "People are stupid and they do stupid things, let's make fun of it" is a great idea that makes plenty of room for references and skewing of social norms and the subtle hilarity that resides in every aspect of our modern, unfocused American culture. Scary Movie took a bunch of really cheesy horror movies and poked fun at their terrible casting, writing, and the general lack of relevance to the overall point of life. Scary Movie stuck with one genre, a cast of established comedians, and was at one point or another clever.

30 Nights of Paranormal Activity etc. is not an example of that either. It pokes fun at movies, yes, but it's largely a sad collection of references mostly to Reality TV shows, surrounded by the over-arching theme of 'we film ourselves also it's a haunted house.' It's largely a 'spoof' of Paranormal Activity, and draws most of it's ideas from it. In fact, most scenes are copies of scenes from Paranormal Activity, with pale representations of characters from other movies replacing things like kitchen furniture. Also there is farting. Lots of it, and it's just as funny as farting has always been.

This movie, even for a B-movie, is awful. It's like Sarah Silverman wrote a horror movie and then decided it wasn't good enough to associate herself with. While I have no doubt that any normal person would find at least one moment in this movie laughable, it's not the 'it's so bad we're laughing' kind of movie you might expect. You should stay away from it unless you're stoned out of your mind, between the ages of 10 and 14, male, and your parents explicitly told you not to watch it. Although if you fit in that demographic I would like you to know that roughly 15 minutes in you've seen all of the breasts you're going to see in this movie.

I can only hope that Craig Moss has been expelled from the Liberal Arts College where he picked up the idea that he would make an even passable film-maker.

One And A Half Hours Of Really Bad Film-Making
aesgaard413 April 2013
Warning: Spoilers
You would think after major bombs and failures named "Vampires Suck" and "Meet The Spartans" that film companies would no longer be trying to create movie parodies. I mean… did we not learn anything from "Stan Helsing," "Disaster Movie" or "Epic Movie?" I mean, we need something lower than a quarter of a star out of five stars to show just how bad these movies are. To paraphrase Taylor Swift, ripping off characters from much more successful movies and trying to fit a story around them never-ever-ever-ever-ever-ever-ever works! The question is, why even keep trying to recapture the success of "Airplane," "The Naked Gun" or "Scary Movie?" Those movies had talent, gifted writers and filmmakers who knew how to make a decent comedy. Here's the answer: Hollywood doesn't give a damn. They hire the worst actors, most unqualified filmmakers, the least talented writers, dump a truck load of money, hold hostage one popular actor and then play chances something resembling a comedy might be born, and it never is. Why? Because these are not comedies - they're wastes of time and money. Much like Congress and the CEOs who ruined this country, motion picture industries have the liberty and the freedom to flush millions of dollars down the toilet on really horrendous movies ("Chip-Wrecked," "John Carter Of Mars…") then make the money back from their insurance and make a trickle of money back on weak rentals and purchases based on bad judgment. "30 Nights of Paranormal Activity" suffers tragically from all the same problems from other badly conceived ideas. It's not a movie; it's a string of horrible sketches with really bad actors and a few good ones trying to stay in the industry with a lot of bathroom, gay and sophomoric humor sprinkled throughout, an over abundance of gay and sexual humor and there's no one named Wayans in the entire cast. My daughter playing dress-up from her mother's closet is a million times more funnier and a heck of a lot cuter, and she's actually allowed to pass gas. Worst yet: whoever writes the cover description of the movie on the DVD has obviously not seen the movie. "Scare yourself silly," "Scream with laughter," and "Hilarious spoof" do not describe "30 Nights of Paranormal Activity." Much better phrases would be "Scream with anger," "Stare confusingly" and "Waste of your time." Believe it or not, at one time, movie parodies were actually funny, but the people making them now don't even seem to be trying to put any effort or actual jokes in them. "30 Days of Paranormal Activity" is not much of a movie. If anything, it is just an endless and pitiful barrage of jumbled up people, references and stuff and doesn't make any sense at all. If the filmmakers and actors can't put any effort into making the movie, why should we even bother watching it? What tiny shred of plot there is involves a family moving into a supposedly haunted house; unfortunately, there are so many black-outs and non-sequential scenes that the movie never really gets started much less starts moving at all. Why couldn't they done just a straight parody of "Paranormal Activity?" There are way too many unimportant characters in this, not to mention two stoners posing as freeloading ghost-hunters, a really weak Abe Lincoln wanna-be, an over-the top masculine lesbian, a fat Bane wannabe and an incredibly weak and forced Donald Trump take among others. I really feel bad for French Stewart and Danny Woodburn; they were so funny and enjoyable on "Third Rock" and "Seinfeld" that to see him suffer with taking roles like this must really be insulting for actors of their talent and caliber. The so-called comedy is mostly juvenile with hardly any real effort put into it (dumb dialogue, pointless scenes and a tasteless slew of drug, alcohol and sexual references). There are jokes that go no where, scenes that drag on too long and too much time wasted on others whereas opportunities for some real humor go unrealized. The only fairly humorous moments are when the home owner tosses the filter back into the pool (ignoring the pool boy in the process), when the wife slides all the way to the market down the hill and when the pool boy imitates the dance from "Black Swan" and even that scene goes five minutes too long. Will someone please explain to me what the reason to make this movie is? You could have flushed three million dollars into the sewer and made a bigger point than this waste of time. Bottom line: I love comedy, and I love parodies, but until someone watches "Naked Gun" or "Airplane" to realize what they're doing wrong, I don't think I'm ever going to see a decent movie parody unless I'm allowed to film and make it myself.

Better Than The Actual Paranormal Activity Movies
bsj-48024 February 2013
Let's face it, the Paranormal Activity movies were terrible. The worst part is they won't stop making them. This movie gives some relief to those of us who were forced by spouses or friends to sit through four terrible, badly made Paranormal Activity movies.

The attempts at spoofing other movies like "The Devil Inside, Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, were weak at best. I'm guessing it took the writer about 10 minutes to complete the entire script here.

Though this movie does have some funny scenes with the "Manny," it just oozes with envy of other great parodies. Unfortunately, for the world, there is only one Mel Brooks.

whats to say?
pfitzpatrick1712 February 2013
What do you expect from a film with a title like 30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo? It had its moments and my boyfriend found it very funny, I prefer darker humour. People who take movies like this too seriously need to ask themselves why they actually watched it, obviously it wasn't going to be something like a Spielberg masterpiece. If your going to watch this then expect nothing more that what the title suggests, it has its moments in places, it has cringe-worthy moments too (you know the kind, when you just want to wither away somewhere) and it has it utterly stupid moments too.

I have seen many movies, too many tbf, so I kinda know what I'm on about.

comedy has been dropped in the canyon
cedthegecko24 April 2013
there's not much to say about this i couldn't laugh just couldn't it just felt that someone just threw every commercial, movie trailer, stereotype jokes and crap in the box and wrote on the side of the box theme paranormal activity well that box is this movie. whole movie length it just throws half-ass jokes just screaming "laugh laugh dammit" i wouldn't watch this even if i was high actually this movie would sell better if it would provide drugs to every consumer who purchase this movie but as i said there's nothing to say about this it really didn't have that much content it is the same 5-6 jokes on repeat the whole run time so my advice avoid at all cost

Hilarious, definitely worth a watch for geeks
seangores12 March 2013
This movie is hilarious if you know where the references are coming from. I literally cried I was laughing so hard at some parts. The director actually put a lot of effort into his scenes, and you will have to watch this movie a couple of times to really get full value out of this. A lot of the jokes have to do with internet memes, and/or behind- the-scenes rumours about other movies. Research may be required.

I commend the writer of this script. It's downright funny, and I don't think these jokes will ever get old.

However, there are non-sense parts (or I just didn't get the references in some parts), and the movie could go without them. You might understand why they're there when you realize the movie is 1:20, so they probably had to keep the cuts there to keep the movie "feature-length".

One of my favourite films this year.

It's a SPOOF flick and the name alone tells ya it'll be fun.
hatchet_tv13 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
I did not want to see this film. I am burnt out on spoof films. I have felt this way since the early Wayans days. My wife asked me to rent this flick, so I did.

The movie was fun and never got boring. I think I understood all the references and jabs.

The cast was perfect. From the family to their Bain parody (He's on the cover no spoiler here)the actors all seemed like they had fun with the film and their characters.

The sets were spot on.

At a time when we need to let go and just laugh 30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a good choice.

I have recommended this to my friends and family.

Don't get your hopes up...
paul_haakonsen17 January 2013
"30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" wasn't particularly as fun as I had hoped it would be. It was really great that they picked up that horrendous "Paranormal Activity" series and completely ridiculed it, because it had it long coming.

For a spoof movie in this genre, then "30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" didn't really stand out all that much. It was a fairly plain and mediocre movie. Sure, there were the occasional laugh here and there, as well as the occasional great moment, but in overall, don't get your hopes up too high.

Following in the wake of the "Scary Movies", these spoofs mostly tend to not offer all that much entertainment. And "30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" didn't managed to rise above mediocrity.

I will say that the cast in the movie were actually doing good enough jobs with their given roles, and it wasn't because of them that the movie turned out to be mediocre - it was simply because of the plot line.

If you enjoy these spoof movies, you might find some enjoyment in "30 Nights of Paranormal Activity with the Devil Inside the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", but there are far better spoofs out there, particularly ones of older date.

Could've Been Better
iamchrisnichols6 March 2019
Going into this movie, i told myself I'd judge it on how many times it made me laugh. This is a spoof film. For these type of movies you have to not expect an amazing story or even a decent one. This movie made me laugh, but not at every single joke. It has moments of humor, but not every joke will land.

Lots of random moments of naked women and things that don't make sense. As a comedy film, it has its moments, but some of those moments could've been better. It's disappointing in that regard. Overall, not a trash film, but it's not a memorable one either.

A dire attempt at comedy
Stevieboy6666 December 2023
When I came across this on DVD the title reminded me of another horror parody, "Shriek if You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th". I rated that 4/10. Hardly generous, but I'd rather watch Shriek 5 times over than sit through "30 Nights,," once again. A very long title for a reasonably short movie but even at 76 minutes (DVD) 30 Nights proved to be a very tiresome watch, the end credits couldn't come soon enough for me. "Humour" comes mainly in the form of crude sex but there are also a few farting and toilets gags. To its credit the acting is generally OK though the two guys that play the "comedy" Ghost Brothers are awful. Donald Trump makes a mildly funny appearance, played but an actor who was way too short in height to be playing him. Olivia Alexander is quite watchable as an emo teenage daughter. The DVD synopsis says "You'll scream with laughter at this hilarious spoof... blah, blah, blah", I felt like throwing a slipper at the TV screen in contempt at how utterly awful this film was.

What a colossal waste!
moviehawg599 April 2018
Warning: Spoilers
*just might be an accidental spoiler that slipped in* I give this movie a 2, for one simple reason ... the "farts"! Being a male that has failed to mature ... farts STILL, to this day, crack me up! Other than that, you can pretty much write this one off. I spent the better part of a Sunday afternoon, throwing away 3 hours of my life, on THIS waste of time, AND it's cousin "41 yr old Virgin that Knocked Up ..." yeah, yeah, yeah! When they were both over, I found myself wondering just how much money these folks were paid to perform in these 2 sorry excuses for "entertainment"? I realize we all have bills to pay, but, seriously, garbage like this can HURT a career (I would think), a lot more than it can help one! In "30 Nights ...", I saw one person who might actually be referred to as an "actor" ... Danny Woodburn (and even THAT is a stretch). Please folks ... DO NOT waste your time ... on either of these lame attempts at comedy! Your time would be better spent watching paint dry!

WHO'S A NAUGHTY GHOST?
nogodnomasters8 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This is another multiple movie spoof. The main movie that is spoofed is "Paranormal Activity 3", considering the role of the pool crawler. If I claimed I got every spoof and pop culture reference, I would be a liar. The movie starts out with found footage of a man who killed the cast of "The Artist" in 1989. Clearly this is a spoof of the multiple anachronisms that have popped up in the Paranormal series. Fans of Adele and "The Black Swan" be forewarned as they are not treated kindly.

The humor is course and crude for too much of the film. It ruined what good scenes and satire the writers came up with. Early in the film they have multiple camera men shooting from different angles etc. Later in a scene we see the director. Again spoofs of the absurdity of these films. In addition to movies being spoofed, TV shows are spoofed as well as pop games and Internet porn.

Being hip to pop culture is a must to enjoy this film. If you enjoyed this feature, you might want to catch "A Haunted House."

Parental Guide: F-bomb, sex, nudity.

Fiveeeeeeeeeeeeee...
protilius-862-77106113 September 2018
Laughed the hardest during the opening line of the 911 call. Good to see that the V humour is still alive and well.

I may have been pretty stoned watching this, but...

I was entertained. Funny enough stuff to watch while getting high surely. You'll never get that 90 minutes back... But lets face it, if you're watching this film, you weren't doing anything but getting stoned anyhow. Loser. (Chuckles.)

There was an appropriate amount of tongue in cheek to go with the demonology. My inner school boy was satisfied with all of the sexual jokes and various fart noises surely. In retrospect... I think they could have shown some more penises. No one but HBO shows off penises. This was a missed opportunity. (Holds straight face.)

Other than that?

I can tell they had a lot of fun making this. It translates to the film often.

I dig it.

Be cool to work on something like this.

There are not bad movies. There is just not enough alcohol in you!
the_wolf_imdb8 January 2022
Some movies are intended to be used with intoxicating substances to fully enjoy them. Otherwise you would be shocked and stunned by their silliness.

In this case the base value of the movie is 1/10.

Add +1 point for any good beer consumed (preferably strong European one) or a shot. Add a +1/2 point for ordinary American beer consumed.

Add about, I would say, +2 points for any joint consumed. Not sure about other substances.

Add +1 point if enjoyed in a company of intoxicated friends.

The equations above suggest this movie is best enjoyed at the end of a really great party night. Also it means it should not viewed alone, especially if you are completely sober.

In my case the final value for the movie is 8/10.

Yes, it is goddamn silly movie, but also goddamn good movie for a drunken party night!

Drink responsibly. Viewer discretion is advised!

Way funnier than Coming 2 America
donkey_dick5 April 2021
Amazing how classic spoofs and toilet humor movies are rated so low like this and "Movie 43" yet people think an absolute pile of feces like "Coming 2 America" is good. You can't trust the rating system here. This is a funny movie. If you like fart snd sex jokes you'll be glad you watched it. I sure was.
