Story line average
nvdev27 April 2024
After looking at this movie my opinion.

The story line is actually not bad at all. Some of the actors played a good roll in the movie but then some where not that good. If more was done to real life and circumstances this movie could have rated 5.8 to 6.0.

More could be done in the action department for eg. Time lines to events in the movie. Travolta did good but there was not enough from the second leading actor. Maybe there could have been stronger assistant actors for travolta.

The time line of events could also be closer to real life that would have given the story more real life feeling.

That said the movie if watchable.

Cash Out
Prismark1026 April 2024
John Travolta joined his former Face/Off star Nicolas Cage in going to VOD movies several years ago.

Travolta cannot even get a cameo in mainstream movies anymore.

That does not stop him from delivering an engaging performance. A reason why he has lasted for 50 years in this business.

The producers of Cash Out were so convinced that it will find an audience. A sequel has already been made.

There is a touch of Out of Sight about this movie. Mason Goddard (Travolta) leads a team that includes his inept brother Shawn (Lukas Haas) to pull off various heists.

A sports car heist goes wrong when his long time squad member Amelia (Kristin Davis) turns out to be an undercover agent.

They manage to escape and Mason is on an enforced retirement.

That is until a few months later, Shawn has got involved in a plan to rob a valuable crypto-wallet from a safety deposit box in a bank. Mason tags along knowing his brother will screw up.

The robbery doesn't go as intended. They now have hostages. Amelia shows up as a hostage negotiator. The box does not contain a crypto-wallet.

It is a dirt box owned by a shady billionaire crook. If the contents are spilled, everyone could end up dead.

On the basis of a low budget VOD movie, this is enjoyable enough. As long as you keep expectations low.

Some of the story does not make much sense. The cast give it their all though but there is a lack of chemistry between Travolta and Davis.

Not Quite a Heist with Style
tomerb-1076826 April 2024
Cash Out tries to charm its way through the well-worn heist film genre, but stumbles on uneven execution. John Travolta delivers a charismatic performance as Mason, a seasoned thief attempting a complex score. The heist itself is decently staged, but the plot relies on a predictable twist and underdeveloped characters.

While there are some fun moments, particularly the banter between Travolta and his team, the shaky camerawork and forgettable action sequences hold the film back. The biggest missed opportunity lies in the supporting cast. Actors like Kristin Davis and Lukas Haas are wasted in roles that lack depth.

Cash Out isn't a complete wash. Travolta's performance is engaging, and there's enough action to keep things mildly thrilling. But for a truly satisfying heist experience, you're better off looking elsewhere.

My time was also stolen
Silicone5429 April 2024
Jump right in from the get go and just accept that this heist crew is insanely competent at all things. There is no groundwork explaining who these people are and how they became such elite thieves. So yeah ok its a movie we don't have time to get into all that. They make a get-away after getting betrayed by one of their own crew in the opening scene. Then it cuts right to them chilling out in comfort without a worry in the world. They were betrayed by none other than an FBI agent who was romantically involved with Travolta's lead character. So this woman was a mole in their heist operation and the FBI just never ever goes after them? They obviously planted a mole and participated in almost catching the crew but no man hunt or anything.

The crew is roped into another brainless heist and without any scouting or research they go all in. The heist doesn't go as planned and requires them to play detective in order to figure out what and how to steal this precious item. What elite criminal gang would rob something they aren't even told what they're stealing, such a ridiculous premise. Eventually, they get what they're after and they come up with an escape plan that is virtually impossible to fathom even in the movies. This is pure fantasy in the realm of heists and getaways. None of this is believable including the lead police officer who was wearing a law enforcement outfit straight out Party City.

Watch this if you are a JT fan but don't expect anything but head scratching drama.

Movie Stars don't do Low-Budget B Movies. AND John Travolta knows better!
jsigurdson-883-59132327 April 2024
Why, why, why? Why is the great John Travolta in a B-movie?

How does an actor that gave us: 1. 1994 Pulp Fiction 2. 1997 Broken Arrow 3. 1999 Swordfish 4. 2003 Basic 5. 2010 From Paris with Love end up in a B-movie?

The movie reeks low-budget.

Possible reasons: A. Mr. Travolta lost a bet.

B. Mr. Travolta was blackmailed into making the movie.

C. Mr. Travolta has suffered some catastrophic financial setback.

D. Mr. Travolta is abusing drugs.

E. Mr. Travolta has suffered some kind of mental breakdown.

I am pleading for any family member or any close friend of Mr. Travolta to stage an intervention.

Movie Stars don't do Low-Budget B Movies. And John Travolta knows better!

Do Not Understand All The Hate
rj45627 April 2024
Instead of focusing and just saying how this movie was A fun one to watch, I have noticed that there are numerous reviews that have really brought down the rating of this movie, and let me tell you something about it, -Do Not Believe It-!! Yeah this movies isn't A classic nor will it be A blockbuster (well Amazon), but it is really A decent movie, A fun movie for an hour and A half (well for most of the time), Travolta is really good, and as the movie prolongs there are twists in the plot, surprising turn of events that really make it A fun movie. Yeah there are some illogical plot holes, and it does feel like the movie might have been edited A bit to short, but in all it's really A decent movie.

Just poor!
Rim0n30 April 2024
I just gave 2 star because of travolta's face.

The story: it is just bad, police chase, jet entry, bank robbery? All are imaginary and with a very bad imagination.

Acting: except john T everyone is aweful. The black driver was acting driving the truck was hilarious. Bank manager's smiley face!

Music: background music was too much to take. Such an action movie, with lots of suspense music is just stupid.

Overall: it is not a B movie but a XYZ class movie. I can't understand why john T has joined these sort of movies? Do they watch their movie after making them? Can't they see it is totally a BS movie without story or any quality? Just awe full.

Money for nothing...
whitetowel-7478627 April 2024
Yep - John Travolta has now sadly joined the likes of Cage, Willis, Gibson and Russell Crowe in making god-awful movies for an easy paycheck and frankly it's sad to see. I mean from Saturday Night Fever, Grease, Swordfish and Pulp Fiction to THIS absolute garbage! Why?

This terrible 'straight to streaming' trash lacks any sembelence of credibility, excitement or originality from the start and while Travolta still has the charisma to mail in a decent enough performance the rest of the cast (including a washed up Kristin Davis and usually decent Lukas Haas) are as throwaway in their parts as the lacklustre script is.

I actually gave up and switched off less than half way through this botched bank heist debacle it was that bad - there really is nothing to keep you interested or engaged here folks.

Amazingly, there seems to be a sequel already in the works!!... which is about as enticing as a fistful of crypto = sad times as Hollywood continues to churn out mundane rubbish and once respected actors become a parody of themselves. What actually happened to GREAT MOVIES starring great actors?!

Typical Heist Action Movie
viper429531 May 2024
The movie was full of action. Very well thought out for the Plot. Could have used less Drone Footage, kinda plays with your head, otherwise, yea will watch again. Travolta showing his age, but for Travolta he seems to be Ageless now a days, he's always good in films not matter the genre. This role was made for him and he succeeded to play the hell out of it. Lucas Hass wow from a kid to now, he's come along way in the film industry and did all the characters in the Movie. Will recommend this movie to all my friends and like I said will re watch again which normally i do only for a select few movies, enjoy the Film.

Just entertaining
marcels7529 April 2024
It is one of those movie you watch after a hard days work or a Sunday afternoon when you don't need to think and just be entertained.

IIt is no Dog Day Afternoon or Inside Man... But it doesn't have too be. Just chill. Travolta plays a cridble role. The technicals are a bit too easy and it could have gotten an half an hour longer to create more body, but for the rest it is just entertaining and that is okay.

Not every movie has to be the artwork like a Rembrand or a Van Gogh. Loads of people just like mediocre nice entryaining stuff that meets a certain atandard althat is good enough.

This movie doesn't take itself to serious nor should we. A movie is problematic when it takes itself too serious and wants to be a 10. This movie knows it will allways be a 6,5 and that is okay. Too bad so many people take life to serious.

The second half drags down this heist film.
lenwenzellw27 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
There are several points where Cash Out failed for me. To explain that I will have to separate the film into two halves. In part one during the initial heist, Travolta and the cast bring off their roles very well. Each of the characters plays their part with understated humour and panache. The set is stylish and in the fashion of some of the great heist films it fulfills and leaves you wanting more. I would rate that a solid seven stars.

Where Cash Out fails for me is setting up the group for the failure leading into the film's second half. The further characterizations and character development needed to set up this part of the film are ignored. Perhaps budget restraints and a weak written plot are at fault. In any event, there is not enough focus given to the love affair between the two many characters. Why is a master thief, and an FBI undercover agent so deeply in love? How did the relationship develop? What was the imperative that made their love so strong? Alongside this is what was going on with the less talented brother that he needed to get his brother out of his slump.

I found the direction, and editing to be weak in several areas. There are scenes that for Travolta were obviously difficult, scenes where several characters had to contort to get through several walls. These scenes were clumsily set up and filmed. Yes, it was dark, and it would have been a perfect moment for a character double to show athletic prowess. Travolta may have been slightly miscast for the part. His age, and the fact he appears somewhat overweight, and out of shape to bring off this part of the film seem somewhat implausible. There are also parts of the film where a closeup of Travolta continues too long and just seems awkward.

To give Travolta his due, his acting chops for much of the film were on point.

As well as these plot black holes many smaller plot holes weaken the story; too many to list. Then there is the final scene where the lovers are reunited. It's too abrupt with no suspense, and no setup. It just doesn't work. I would rate part two as no higher than three stars.

Utter rubbish
tomluck-0401027 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
After 67 years of life I have to admit to seeing the WORST movie ever produced.

Not only is the script utterly appalling, but the acting was even worse.

Disbelief that such a character as John Travolta would lower himself speaks volumes to his financial situation, and sadly, desperation to take on such a demeaning role.

Generally speaking this movie was appalling and totally unbelievable.

The idea that an fbi person would take sympathy on a career criminal stretches imagination way too far to even mention and to which they surely would not go close to agreeing to, let alone sanctioning, amid their disbelief.

Reeks
gamma-892234 May 2024
None of the actors in the movie look like they want to be making a film. They all look bored. The female lead looks old and worked on. The story like actually isn't that bad, however; it is quite transparent. I will presume that Travolta just needed to pick up a few bucks so he showed up for this.

It is hard to watch through to it's entirety. The one saving grace may be the smattering of Euro custom automobiles that we are treated to early in the replay. I do wish there we another strength to point out. I just don't see it. Maybe Mr. Flowers could be a bright spot, he almost looks the part.

1234.

Suspension & Humanity
CymanCat3 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Since I'm a big fan of John Travolta's style; given to the best not only in Pulp Fiction, but also in Face/Off and Swordfish - I was pleased to see that he still can deliver an epic character who carries the movie from start to end in great suspension and coolness.

Additionally - and unfortunately nowadays extremly rare - not a single person gets killed or hurt unnecessarily. Delicate situations are handled with care even, and the only fights are carried out by using words. I love this movie for that alone. It shows class, since it really takes craftmanship to create an action movie this peaceful. In my personal opinion, this film paves the way by gifting the industry with this role model recipe to spare the users of human misery (the world is full of already) and gives the viewer something encouraging and even soothing to watch.

Sure, the woven in love story is a bit thin, but adds a nice touch nevertheless. Definitely a keeper in my book. Don't care at all how other people rate it. For me it's a 10 out of 10. Period.

What's Not To Like?
rodney_h30 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I simply cannot understand the inexplicably bad rating (currently 4.8 on IMDB) or the hateful reviews for Cash Out. I thought it was an engaging story all the way through. Granted, it's not often that a story will have you rooting for the "bad" guys but then again, Cash Out leads us to a very important question: Just WHO are the REAL bad guys in our world today?

Caution: possible spoilers ahead - So who exactly ARE the REAL criminals and bad guys in our world today?

The government? Check.

The rich string pullers? Check.

The misfit common criminals and thieves? Again, Check.... BUT the common criminals and thieves can often pale in comparison to the biggest, most immoral, unethical, ruthless and despicable "bad" guys (and gals) of all.

Solid from start to finish
savery-3109329 April 2024
The movie was great from start to finish. I think it would have been even better if I saw it in theaters instead of my computer but I was entertained the whole way through. It plot kept me on my toes and I loved watching the entire thing. I'm hoping to see john travolta in more films like this because he played the role perfectly. At first I was suspicious of him as the star but he definelty carried the movie. The supporting actors also all did their part. A few good laughs during the movie as well. I would try to see it in a theater if you can. If not I would rent it and get the popcorn ready.
