Chalky White : You Eddie Cantor, ain't you?
Eddie Cantor : Depends on how big the bill is.
Dunn Purnsley : We're affiliated with Mr. Thompson.
Eddie Cantor : You're Milky, isn't it?
Chalky White : [narrows his eyes] Chalky. See, when you come to town, we never do get a chance to see you strut.
Dunn Purnsley : On account of the rules of the venue.
Eddie Cantor : Oh, boys, let me tell you, that's an outrage. You come to New York, I personally guarantee you the best box.
Chalky White : Ain't gonna be able to do that.
Dunn Purnsley : But Mr. Thompson, he say come by. Maybe you do a little show for us.
Eddie Cantor : Well, I wish I had the time.
Chalky White : Said you had 10 minutes.
Eddie Cantor : [realizing he's being strong-armed] Look, uh...
Dunn Purnsley : Mr. White.
Chalky White : And Mr. Purnsley.
Eddie Cantor : I explained to Nucky... he means the world to me. I... I just can't walk away from a contract. He of all people understands...
Chalky White : Any particular place you like us to sit?
Eddie Cantor : Uh... right there is good.
[Purnsley brings over a chair, and he and Chalky sit down facing Eddie]
Eddie Cantor : Usually work a bigger room.
Chalky White : We simple folk.
Dunn Purnsley : Make it something funny.
[Eddie sighs, then takes a few moments to prepare]
Eddie Cantor : [singing] A boy and girl were walking, a-walking, yes, walking/and as he stood there talking, he stole a little kiss/the girlie started giggling, oh, giggling, yes, giggling/and as he stood there wiggling, he shyly told her this/oh gee, oh gosh, oh golly, I'm in love/oh gee, oh gosh, oh golly, it's you I'm thinking of/I love to hold your teeny weeny hand in mine...
[Chalky and Purnsley stare, completely straight-faced; Eddie nervously clears his throat]
Eddie Cantor : [singing] I get a piggly wiggly feeling down my spine...
[Eddie starts breathing heavily, visibly agitated]
Eddie Cantor : [singing] Oh me, oh my, oh, how I love...
[voice trails off, defeated]
Eddie Cantor : Tell the son-of-a-bitch I'll do it.
