It's another attempt at the Christmas classic: a magical "guide" tries to guide our protagonist through the "real meaning" of Christmas Eve. The added detail that the protagonist's birthday is also Christmas Eve serves as both a marker that he's still stuck in the loop, (except it's not a loop), and as a gripe that people forget his birthday. It's a bit hard to follow until the 2nd or 3rd time, that he's not in a loop, but simply skips to next year's Christmas Eve, then next year's, and so on, getting to assess the damage his attitude causes only on the holiday.

It has all the holiday movie clichés, with updates for modern audiences, like the strong LGBT message from the "fairy godfather".

Some characters that deserve better exposition, like his immediate family, don't get it. The movie tries to have too many things going on, so it's hard to focus on any of them. Instead of enhancing the comedy and Christmas spirit, it really only ends up showcasing the routine message of "seize the day", and the in-your-face LGBT agenda. Everything else gets slback seat to these two themes. Nevertheless, good stepping stone for a remake, and hopefully the next country's version gets it right.

As a timeloop movie fan, i found this in netflix and thought id give it a go.

I may be the only one who was emphatizing the main character as somehow i felt what he did. But my main reason why the rating is only 6/10 is because he seemed that he wasnt interested at the things that had happened in the previous year at all.

It is not so well executed movie, but the story behind it is great. I think all of that 1 hour and 40 could have been used better. It is a decent movie, but personally i would not watch it again.

As a timeloop movie, ive seen many others that have better plot and execution than this one.

Why do I feel very attacked whenever they "villainize" Chuy/Jose Padilla (the protagonist)???

Of course he will be grumpy. On top of him only getting one gift every year (vs others getting one birthday gift and one Christmas gift) and people forgetting it's his birthday too, it appears that he is the one doing all the chores despite it being his special day. And to top it all off, it would appear that he buys everyone gifts too.

About the curse: why does his life get fast forwarded into his next birthday?! Except for the protagonist, everyone gets a memory of what Chuy has done from the last 364 days since his last birthday. If you put yourself into his shoes, would you be able to change your mistake if you are not even aware that it was a mistake to start with? Ironically, one of the plot lines talked about empathy and it would appear that the writer/s don't understand empathy that much - they can't empathize what their protagonist was going through.

Story: new Camera / Scenes: in the first 5 minutes amazing Actors: professionals and doing a great job Writing: better than some block busters Cuts: on point and you will not see any second not necessary to the plot in the first five minutes. Actually that's a masterpiece (in the genres of gen-y-couple or family entertainment)

So what's the problem why I am giving 3/10? Oh if you see the movie you will see it. At 00:04:30 the main character changes from a cool balanced guy to a dork / bully who ignores the real world. To the disadvantage of his only two kids. Just look at this: (spoiler head) He has to bandage his son's hand because of an Karate injury. He didn't ask about the fight and the injuriy - he just wrap some fabric around the hand. Scene over. Mother sits next to it and also doesn't add up anything or wonders if a dry bandage is enouigh. In real life I am not a docter but I recommend to at least ask how your son is today.

This is 5 min in tnto the movie. This paragraph makes totally clear what I am about to state with my 3/10 star rating here. It's a bad movie. Badly executed and it makes us audience ask and wonder more than we experience satisfaction from the story to be told.

Well, i can only say this kinda mixed movie just pissede off from the beginning to the end. To be honest everyone in the protagonist situation would be pissed, frustrated and angry toward Christmas day/ birthday. I just see the curse as something really unnecessary and unfair at least. I don't see the fairy also as someone trustworthy but makes doing to the protagonist things without a logic not even make him understand what he could do better or what he's doing wrong. Seems like they just make him do only for their satisfaction so yeah. I feel disgusted, disoriented and really pissed off at this movie.

Basic story plot is the weird angel god punishes a poor fellow to make him enjoy christamas eve and be good to his family.

By the ending no propee justification given why the hell he cursed. Its individual pain when someone is not able to enjoy the moments. Instead of mami him realize the movie punish main character. So the movie says if you dont believe christams you are going to be rotten in living hell. Initial 20 min are good. Climax is too bad.we cannot empathize with any character in the movie. Because everyone tries to irritate their loved ones. Lead character behavior itselr till climax never gets better

Was interesting in the beginning till he met a madrina.

The madrina made him through the hell many times to make him understand that He is a Bad Person. Which is completely unfair. The person has birthday once a year and it must be the most important day in this person life. It is unfortunate that the birthday falls on Christmas, but still the main person should be the important on this day. His family behaves in a terrible way ( i am not gonna write here strong bad words probably it is not allowed). They are completely ignorant, they only interested in themselves. His own parents don't remember it is their son birthday. He had all the right to be the way he behaves and what he tells all of them.

The family must find a solution to this. And he must be supported by his wife. She should have been his person and organise it in a way "you know family, first we celebrate his birthday and then Christmas". Otherwise why do you marry each other?

Make first hours about him and then about Christmas and Christmas presents.

Someone probably was so spirited by Christmas, so they decided to make this movie about how just the Christmas is the most important and above the main person. Probably they try to push closer to religion.

Back to the main character. The film doesn't show how he was as a husband, son, brother during the whole year. So in the end they decided to make him bad person not only about Christmas but in everything in this life.

And make an end that he is so happy and doesn't matter that has birthday and he still continues to serve everyone and eat that cheese salsa that he hated since childhood.

Terrible! Absolutely terrible!
