Bad
mauricehowell-803684 March 2024
Very bad acting. Feels like a play at times or just a lifetime movie. Iit's available on tubi so I'm not surprised but the picture quality is actually pretty good. It is the only reason I could even give it 3 stars. Someone needs to make a movie about Mr. Gacy that's good it is an interesting story. The documentaries are way better this story is a real story and should be portrayed better. Think it falls by the waist side when is compared to the Jeffery Dahmer incident and docu-series. Hopefully one day we will get a real adaptation of John gacy real life and why he turned out the way he did. I kno it's not about his upbringing just the boy next door vision but it could have been better just my opinion .

Just Awful
dierkingl3 March 2024
I know alot about Gacy and wanted to watch to see what Hollywood would do. There was 2 other movies done about him, but this one is more about the neighbors, so it makes if a fictional story. They got Gacy right as he was a serial killer, but his neighbors didn't suspect him of anything. So watching this, I am like the kid, Bobby, his parents are very old to be playing parents of a teenager. His mom, geez, couldn't stop looking at her oversized clownish lips. The father, another older actor. Gacy lived in a ranch style home, not a 2 story tudor style home. They really didn't show Gacy as he really was. Most of his victims were teenagers or young men he promised jobs to. This movie shows him just picking up male prostitutes. Also, Gacy had an accompliace which would bring people to him. So while this was a different spin, it still was awful.

I couldn't give it a one.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie was so perniciously bad that it was almost comical. In fact, there were some scenes so preposterous that I had to. The kid sees Gacy strangle someone to death and then can't decide if he should contact the police. His parents initially think he's imagining it all. The guy who plays Gacy is so creepy, no one in his right mind would get in a car with him. Gacy lived in a ranch, not a 2 story. The acting was to a person atrocious. (Bobby's mother looked like she was on crack). I don't believe a family engineered Gacys capture. All in all, a horrific piece of cinema, however so comically bad, I couldn't give it just one star.

A Pointless Disaster
filmguyci-228043 February 2024
A fictionalized film about a teenage boy who lives next door to serial killer John Wayne Gacy and becomes suspicious of him.

Seriously, that's it. It's not like he befriends him for a while and then becomes suspicious. It happens in the first 20 minutes. The movie has no where to go. His attempts to convince his friends and family are shot down throughout the film. It's both boring and infuriating.

The acting is amateurish all around. The dialogue is awful. The actor playing Gacy is unconvincing and even more so when he decides to take on the persona of The Joker, complete with an over the top maniacal laugh. Make it to the it end and you'll also get to experience the tonally bizarre Chariots of Fire moment.

If you really need to see a film about John Wayne Gacy, please pass on this and watch one of the already too many films / documentaries that exist.

Rifftrax take notice. This can be your next film.

COMPLETE CRAP
tainbey7 April 2024
So I'm going to be brutally honest. Sitting here on a Sunday afternoon and looking for something interesting to watch I came across this movie but I can't even really call it a movie, I would refer to it as agonizing torture that was probably worse than what Gacey's victims went through. I've seen better acting at my 6-year-old nephews performance during his grammar school play. Of the 1:38:02 the "movie" lasted I probably watched a little over half as I had to keep fast forwarding because I thought I was going to have a stroke. What happened to Gacey's mom. We saw her when he walked her into the new house and that was it. When the dad went looking for the son it was dark outside but when they came out the front door it was daylight. The best part of it was seeing the Buick Riviera because I had a '64 in high school. Did anybody watch this before they released it to the public because the continuity is ridiculous. I have much more but I'm tired now and I have to go but if this is what the people who were involved in the production of this movie was aiming for then they hit it right on the mark and Siskel and Ebert would give it two thumbs down.

The 10s and 9s are obviously submitted by the people associated with this debacle. Do not give this "movie" any of your time. You will hate yourself afterwards. Whose idea was it to cast a Meatloaf look alike with out the talent to play Gacy. The acting is reminiscent of a 6th grade play. I often wonder how projects like this get funded. The world would be much better off if the money to make the film was donated to a worthy cause. The "actors" do not need to be encouraged. They will all be much better off with careers in other fields. I blame this movie on the everyone gets a trophy generation. Just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should.

What did I just waste $4.99 on..
danielthompsonfp29 February 2024
If the God awful acting doesn't make you turn this off in the first 15 minutes, you have a much more optimism inside you than I do. Wow!

This movie was suggested to me on Amazon Prime, not surprisingly, as I'm a big true crime movie buff. Having said that, I figured I'd give this a whirl knowing good & well that it was going to be low budget, but still hoping it would be worth my time. Oh boy, I was so wrong!

The acting is cheesier than any lifetime movie you've ever seen, I promise you that. There's a fight scene in the first five minutes in which the sound effects used for punches literally made me laugh out loud, so I guess above all else, I got a laugh worth $4.99 out of this movie. Fifteen minutes in I was done and accepted my loss to Amazon's marketing strategy.

Amazon: 1 Me: 0.

Just boring and awful.

Warning: Spoilers
This movie is honestly one of the worst serial killer movies i have ever seen. The movie just seems so rushed for no reason and the acting is TERRIBLE. They always have blank faces in serious situations and it reminds me of the way dhar mann makes his videos LMAO ..

And also i feel like they should've added more details in how the people were being killed because like i said earlier, it just seems so rushed and it just shows the same thing over and over and OVER again. Gacy finds a male prostitute, takes him home, chokes him, hysterically laughs in his face and thats it nothing else. There are way better movies out there..

Fiction
dmars201527 April 2024
I have to give Kudos to anyone that aspires to make films and then does it. I have always been a huge fan of film/ cinema. I would like to make a movie one day. However, I respect taking some creative license when writing a movie but I don't appreciate taking a real person or event and creating something fictional. It's misleading and confusing. Just create your own characters and build a story around them. In this Gacy movie, the story focused on young man who was Gacy's neighbor. I have watched many docs on Gacy and there has never been any mention of a young man snooping around his home and parents getting involved.

What a waste of time!!

Warning: Spoilers
Disappoints with a disjointed plot and lackluster acting. While Mike Korich shines, unfortunately, it's not enough to salvage the sinking ship. The film's poor execution, including laughable special effects like stabbing someone while he is wearing a white T-shirt without a drop of blood, falls flat. Instead of delving deep into the psyche of John Wayne Gacy and exploring the intricacies of his heinous crimes, the film opts for a superficial and shallow approach that leaves much to be desired. Scenes transition clumsily from one to the next, leaving viewers struggling to make sense of the narrative thread, if there even is one. With amateurish cinematography and forced emotions, it fails to engage true crime fans. A generous two stars for Korich's effort, but save yourself the time and disappointment and look elsewhere for your true crime fix and a compelling portrayal of John Wayne Gacy story.

New look into the world of Gacy through others
angelinadivine-526764 February 2024
There is no exact perspective of those that went through the experience of Gacy. But this movie was entertaining of what could have been with many truth factors of events that happened throughout the time period of these horrific times. Mason Mcnulty in my eyes is an amazing actor that kept you on the edge of the seat as you felt Experience he was going through. This movie was shot in a short period of time in the blazing heat and I give all actors director, staff and crew credit for this entertaining piece for the world to see. This is Hollywood! . Thank you for this insight. It takes a lot to put a movie together, and I appreciate every filmmaker cast crew actors writers investors.

Gacy! Well done!
posent12 February 2024
I thought this film was very ambitious and solid considering the budget they had to work with. The period piece aspect of it played well. It had that real 70'shorror feel on the production side, in the same vein as Halloween, Friday The 13th, etc. On the story side, the tension grew from the beginning as the innocent kid next door seemed to be the only one who sensed the danger coming from Gacy, which is probably somewhat accurate of the real story. I thought Mason McNulty handled that lead kid next door very well, balancing the innocent kid being told what to do, with sensing a serious issue no one else seemed to recognize.

Not as good as I'd thought
janayaa-6371425 April 2024
This movie is Corny and horrible acting from most characters. Only one that did good was the son. Highly don't recommend. I thought it would be like the 2003 movie, but it's nothing near it. The older version of this movie is much better and has more true events in it. I really can't get over how bad the acting was though. I could do better than that and I've never acted a day in my entire life. This movie is more from the neighbors point of view, which none of this happened. Whereas the 2003 version does its best to act out how things really went down and I can take the older version more serious than this one. Do not watch if you want to spend your time wisely, I suggest the 2003 version.

God Awful
desoto_gal16 April 2024
The story is bad. The characters are bad. The acting is bad. Worse than a train wreck that you can't look away from. DO NOT waste your time on this movie unless you truly enjoy psychological torturing yourself. JWG's character is beyond annoying, and the kid's mama? Who can stop looking at those weird lips???? It's humorous that the actors at least tried to be serious. If you're tempted, throw your remote. Stay away. Far, far away. At least Baby Oopsie knew it was ridiculous and tried to be funny. This movie doesn't even qualify for a bad movie really...it's worse than that. Awful. Truly, truly awful.

A DIFFERENT TWIST ON A KNOWN TOPIC
seals-639-90559630 January 2024
Renown director, writer, and producer Michael Feifer hits another home run with this thriller which offers some different twists on the criminal story of the creepy John Wayne Gacy. The cinematography is excellent as are the stunts and overall presentation. The Gacy story has been told more than a few times but Gacy: Serial Killer Next Door is an engaging and fresh take on a historical series of newsworthy events. The acting is top notch which enhances the storyline even more. I was particularly impressed with actor Mason McNulty in the role of Bobby and with actor Mike Korich who played the sinister Gacy character. The rest of the cast was equally impressive. This is an independent film that has the look and feel of a much more costly motion picture. Michael Feifer does not disappoint!

On the edge of your seat thriller
cindy-578974 February 2024
Gacy Serial Killer Next Door is definitely a on the the edge of your seat thriller. Through the eyes of a teenager (Bobby played by Mason McNulty) shows a story of what if the killer had lived next door. Mike Korich played an amazing John Wayne Gacy. Mike's take of the famous serial killer was spot on. This movie has all the feels of creepy. Loved the story line. A lot of suspense put into an hour and 37 minutes. I also loved the nostalgia of the time period. Fun to see the vintage clothes and cars. The performances of the entire cast was great. I would recommend watching Gacy Serial Killer Next Door.

Intense,gripping
d-rudd-699502 February 2024
Very good take on this story of a crazed clown. Stiry telling from a different perspective. Mason McNulty shows a desperate teenager can do alot to help people. The uneasy feeling that is portrayed only enhances the experience. Trying to show that there is more than meets the eye to the so called friendly neighbor and his sinister live.the whole cast brings together a story that puts you at the edge of your seat .The moody soundtrack creates a moody background for this thriller. The cast, set and wardrobe make you feel like its the 70s . The entire cast bring the emotions and atmosphere of the times to life. Very entertaining gripping movie.

Killer movie!
aritchieprincess21 March 2024
The movie has a real 70's feel! From the clothes to the cars to the houses even the mannerisms of the actors... definitely takes you back to that era! I like how the movie is told from a completely different perspective of the life around a serial killer instead of just all about him. The actors facial expressions were 100% on point! This movie nailed the creepy clown vibe. The directors/producers achieved and really captured the true cringe worthy weirdo-ness clowns give off! And that song!! It was absolutely perfect!! The song really continued to resonate the whole eery feeling throughout the whole movie.

I'll never see clowns the same!
Jake_Diaz_Official22 February 2024
Whoa! Talk about a thriller!! I haven't covered my eyes and peeked through my fingers since I was like 6 but this one had me scared out of my mind!

No spoilers here. You'll have to watch this yourself. Mason is a talented actor that really brought the fear of what it would be like to be a teen in that position and having that intuition that something just isn't right with someone!

This movie was everything I had hoped for and much more! Congratulations to a wonderful cast of very talented people and to McNulty Productions on a great thriller!

The definition recommend this but you may not want to watch in the dark or alone!

Warning: Spoilers
Utter tripe...! Not only was it a terrible depiction of a true (and very horrendous) story, it makes a mockery of all those who suffered and died. It's not really clear who characters are, almost like they've cut scenes and it no longer makes sense. I love a true crime story but the acting and terrible suspense music is shocking. It was like watching an 80s horror movie. Not worth watching. Feel for all the families of the victims - this takes the mick if you ask me. Very cheesy, almost a made up version of what really happened! Knowing the true story of what this monster did, this show not only dims it right down, it makes it look like a joke!
