- Will Graham has a nightmare in which he sees the Totem Pole from the previous episode; brief but disturbing.
- Will Graham imagines breaking his thumb so that he can slip his hand out of some handcuffs and then struggles with two men; he strangles one to death by pinning his head against the roof of a car and pressing the chain from ankle cuffs against his throat and then kills the other by slitting his throat with the bracelet from his handcuffs; shown in closeup with blood spurting.
- At a crime scene the internal organs of three men are shown tied to trees with their arteries.
- Dr. Gideon kills a man by slitting his throat and pulling his tongue through the open wound; only the aftermath is shown in graphic closeup.
- Dr. Gideon kills a second man in the same way; he is shown lying on a morgue slab with the wound shown in graphic closeup. He also severs one of the man's arms; the gory wound is shown.
- In a prolonged and disturbing scene, Dr. Gideon cuts open Dr. Chilton and removes his internal organs one by one; he is shown placing them in a metal tray with gory results.
