The painting of the woman pushing a stroller is by artist Nikko Sedgwick, brother of actress Kyra Sedgwick; and the woman in the painting is Leslie Parks, daughter of Gordon Parks, the director of Shaft; all of whom are friends of director Eugene Ashe.
Nina Ashe (Abby) , Jerry Ford (Robert) and Duane Allen Robinson (Barrett) played the same roles in the original off-Broadway production of the play "Homecoming."
Writer/Director Eugene Ashe was a member of the R&B band Funky Poets, whose songs appear on the soundtrack.
Only the exteriors were shot in Washington DC, the rest of the movie was filmed in a brownstone in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn.
