I've been watching every episode in order and right now this is the latest one I've watched. I enjoy most of the entire cast and in previous episodes, they've all seen for the most point enjoyable. This episode contained a lot of conflict between regular characters and returning characters that seemed a bit off-putting to me (Dom's ex being the brunt for the most part). His tearing up a letter she wrote at the very end without even reading it seemed a bit overdone for someone who is usually one of the more likeable characters (meaning Dom) in the cast).
Also, something that bugged me greatly is that Jeremy sent the doorkeeper of the theater to his death (not on purpose, but still) by having him go clean a dressing room that he clearly wasn't keen on cleaning and still was reluctant when bribed. Yet away the doorkeeper went to clean that dressing room and he ended up dead on the floor as a result. What was Jeremy's reaction to learning that his actions led to the death of another person? We'll never know because Jeremy didn't appear once more in the episode after that. He had to have known the doorkeeper was killed, but it will just have to be imagined that Jeremy shrugged when told and quickly went back to sipping large amounts of gin on the back patio of his mansion. I can't think of any other series or movies where a completely innocent character died as a result of someone else's order and that fact not even be brought up afterwards at some point. Kudos to the writers of Madame Blanc for casually red-shirting (Star Trek reference) a character like that. The main character, Jean White (Madame Blanc if you will) also had an underwhelming ending scene at the end when she's searching for a very expensive faberge egg with her former-enemy-turned-friend and when learning where the egg (which wasn't an egg after all) was, showed just a subtle amount of excitement. Maybe because the treasure wouldn't be hers is why Jean seemed a bit "meh" about the find, but finding that treasure was one of the show's subplots and it seemed a bit anticlimatic. I also think Dom did a dumb thing by quickly ripping up the letter his ex had written. It could have been important like that she has just 6 months left to live. It could have also been a sincere apology and her wishing him and their daughter all the best. Or there could have been a letter just for their daughter to forgive her. If it was Georgina just trying to manipulate him again, then rip up the letter.... AFTER reading it. Okay, review done, lol. I hope the rest of the season is stronger and more engaging than this one.
