This past summer was a memorable one for fans of Konami's video game franchise Castlevania. In addition to the release of a new four-episode animated series adaptation of the video games on Netflix, the streaming service also renewed the series for an eight-episode second season, and viewers of the show were treated to a story that took an R-rated approach to violence and a bold path with its storytelling. One of the creative forces behind the new series is Adi Shankar (executive producer of films such as Dredd and The Grey) and I had the opportunity to talk with the filmmaker about collaborating with Sam Deats and Warren Ellis, the freedom of working with Netflix, and much more.
Thanks so much for taking some time to talk with me and congratulations on Castlevania. I wrapped up watching the first season and I absolutely loved it.
Adi Shankar: Amazing, amazing.

Katee Sackhoff’s name has been thrown around several times over the years when discussing a possible Marvel Studios role, usually in conversations about the long-rumored Ms. Marvel. The fans aren’t the only vocal parties, either, as Joss Whedon recently tweeted a picture of the Battlestar Galactica alum as proof that gender-swapping Thor in the comics could lead to great results. With Ms. Marvel heavily rumored to have a cameo appearance in Whedon’s upcoming Marvel flick Avengers: Age of Ultron, is there a chance that Sackhoff could land the coveted role?
There’s a chance, yes, but according to Sackhoff she hasn’t even met with the studio about it yet. She met with Marvel legend Stan Lee recently, but told Vulture that she has yet to talk to anyone from the “Marvel Studios brain trust.”
She recently dropped a series of Twitter clues though alluding to a secret upcoming role,...

Katee Sackhoff has been creating confident, commanding and kick-ass women on television for the last decade, and while she loves that Vic Moretti, Longmire's lawwoman, sometimes loses a fight, the inherent strength Sackhoff's become beloved for is ever-present in Vic's DNA as well.
Last week, Longmire's second season premiered to record ratings, and Katee promises that Sunday's all-new episode is sure to keep fans locked in all year long. I caught up with the effortlessly charming actress to talk about the white-hot A&E series, and also get the skinny on bulking up for her role in the new Riddick movie!
ETonline: What was it originally that attracted you to Vic?
Katee Sackhoff: It's funny, everyone I played before Starbuck was the complete opposite, but I always kind of knew that I would be pigeonholed a bit after Battlestar Galactica. I mean, I don't mind because I love those roles, but there is...

So that all-female style "The Expendables" is actually becoming a thing. Last month, Gina Carano was the first name on board the movie, and now another actress has joined her, bringing some geek cred to the production. Captain Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace from "Battlestar Galactica" -- known on her driver's license as Katee Sackhoff -- has come aboard the still untitled movie. Details about the movie are still being kept tightly guarded, and all we know is that Dutch Southern is writing the script. But Adi Shankar of production company 1984 Private Defense Contractors is certainly excited about the whole thing saying, "If you spend five minutes with Katee it becomes blatantly obvious that she would pwn most male action stars." Yes, he used the word pwn. Still no word yet on when exactly this will roll, but the continued buzz around the movie is that "several prominent actresses affiliated with the action genre" are.
