- In a basement in Brooklyn, the cast of the hit show 'Urban Ghost Hunters' are investigating reports of ghostly sightings. Barely settled in they quickly realize they are in trouble when their own personal demons start to show up. Will this team make it out of this lock up?—Anonymous
- In an alley in Brooklyn, 20 year old Glen convinces his girlfriend Kristen to join him searching for ghosts in his apartments basement. Kristen, thinking hes just trying to scare her, agrees. While making out in the basement, Kristen realizes they are being watched.by a translucent woman with no feet. After viewing the video Glen shot in the basement, they realize they have caught footage of the ghost. Glen sends the video into the hit reality TV show Urban Ghost Hunters for a chance to win $25,000.
Six weeks later, Glen receives a letter informing him that their video won the contest and that the Urban Ghost Hunters cast will be coming to peep their haunt. When the shows producer Stacy Richards arrives, she quickly realizes that the apartment building will make great TV for the show. She interviews Glen, Kristen, and Glens Mother, and hears stories of paranormal experiences from several other tenants. She also discovers that the building once suffered mass deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning.
After that tragic event, sightings became frequent, as well as incidents of violence, more tragic deaths and suicides. Stacy herself has a sighting on her first visit. That afternoon the cast of Urban Ghost Hunters - Vanessa, Ray, Wendy, Bill, Cooper and Lisa - arrive to shoot the opening with Kristen and Glen, and begin their investigation. None of them like what they sense.
As they begin the show, they all attempt to play down their growing sense of unease, but they cant contain it for long. The group begins the show by bringing in their resident psychic Myra Lane to read the location. Within moments Myra finds herself the focus of the spirits anger. Lisa (a rival psychic), becomes possessed and threatens Myra. When the session goes too far, Myra runs bleeding out of the basement, leaving her tools, and the rest of the crew, behind.
When it is time for the lock down, the teams lead investigator, Wendy, tries to convince Stacy that they already have enough footage for the episode, and expresses their fear that this job may be out of their league. Stacy refuses to let them out of their obligation to the show and blackmails Wendy into convincing the others they need to finish the assignment. Wendy and the other investigators reluctantly agree. Through the night the basement twists each of the team members fears and past into horrid images. Each ghost hunter tries to hide their growing terror and finish the investigation as best they can without revealing their personal demons to the others.
That is until the Masked Man shows himself and begins stalking them one by one. When Stacy returns in the morning she finds all of them dead. A year later, Stacy is tasked with producing an anniversary episode of that Urban Ghost Hunters episode. The network puts together another contest, this time asking for amateur ghost hunters to investigate the Brooklyn basement where the six UGH hosts died. Stacy gets no entries but finds a letter from Donnie, a skeptic complaining about the show. She calls and informs him that he won the contest. Donnie, a store clerk, wants nothing to do with the contest. That is until Stacy tracks him down and convinces him to participate by offering him $25,000 to spend one night with her in the same basement where the others died. Donnie finally agrees.
Donnie remains skeptical until he is locked inside with Stacy who tells him the whole story of how the hosts died that night. She reveals that she hid footage to protect their privacy and that she has lived with the guilt of their deaths every day since. She warns Donnie that tonight they need to be on alert. Donnie begins to realize that he may have made a terrible mistake in agreeing to go through with the investigation.. Will he and Stacy make it out or suffer the same fate as the others?
